The club needs to seriously arrange a meeting with coach Flanagan and make the hard call on his position as coach .
Drop kyle now to nsw cup or start looking to move both on 2027 holding back k reed a local talent is damaging the teams success .

I have a feeling he's going to swap Atko and Kyle and say "let's see if the swap will bring about a change" to buy more time for his son. Everyone knows KF has been in the halves, for now his 3rd year, and he still can't manage to setup his outside backs and organise the backs beyond him.

I was quite happy when Flanno was appointed, premiership winning coach, hard nut, positive direction, so my both feet planted firmly in his box, however, I must say now, one foot has stepped out of that box for various reasons that have already been discussed ad-nauseum.

So, why only one foot you may ask.

Well the alternative is far worse. Forget Peter's or Arthur's or anyone else for that matter. If Flanno is sacked it will be Dean Young. We simply couldn't afford to pay him out and appoint an external hire, especially one from the Super League where they would demand a transfer fee. This plus a salary would just about blow the football departments cap (yes they do have one) for many years, which would again keep Deano nice and secure.

Be careful what you wish for as the saying goes.

I'm too old now to be playing hopscotch, so I do hope I can have both feet firmly planted in one box sooner rather than later.

I think it's time for Flanno to show if he can make some truly tough and perhaps risky decisions. Forget what worked in 2016. We're playing Vlandys ball now. Adapt or fall behind. Time to get creative and make the most of the average squad he has at his disposal. Move some pieces around. Find the best 5/8 in the squad and pick him. Go all in on the youth and speed and agility in the squad - particularly with those young forwards. The reliance on grinding and "experience" would be fine if it actually won us games. Time is proving that it doesn't.
The one sympathy I do have for him is the unbelievable and seemingly incurable stupidity that seems to infect anyone who pulls on Dragon's jersey since Bennett left. We weren't outplayed by Parra, we were just so much dumber than them. And on Sunday they were at peak stupid. Comically dumb.

I'm still supporting him but if he is too stubborn to reexamine his selections and overall strategy then he might end up digging his own grave. Anyone though who thinks he is in danger of the sack in 2026 is kidding themselves. The quickest the club will act is sometime in '27 if we're still struggling even after the addition of Keaon.

Your last paragraph is 100% spot on.

You are bang on with your Vlandys ball comment. The style of footy flanno wants us to play, the NRL dont want us to play. He wants to turn it into a grime fest trench warfare, the NRL are making moves year on year to move away from that style. So really its like banging your head against a brick wall, setting up for failure.

100% one of the most sensible and constructive posts on this forum in recent weeks.

I'll even go as far as to 200% support your paragraph on the seemingly incurable stupidity of the playing group since Bennett walked out the door 15 seasons ago now. In fact, I even feel some sympathy for Price, Mary & Hook (plus anyone who has been in an assistant role) on this. There are some things a coach can't control once the squad leaves the dressing room and crosses that white line.

Also, moving some pieces around starts this week. Sloan, Fale, Sele and Halangahu all need to be playing some role in the squad come 6.15pm Sunday evening. We need to inject some speed (Sloan, Fale), directness through the middle (Sele) and footwork at the line (Halangahu).

Well I think other than replacing the Couchmans it will be same same.
Spot on.
Setu & Tui still on the wing, Lawrie & Guler the starting props...
Halangahu, LPT & Buchanan on the bench, though - so some improvement overall.
There needs to be, too. If we lose this one we're truly phukked.

I'm sticking with Flanno, the club overall is moving in the right direction. The reserves have some up and comers. The club needs a couple of guns in firsts but the depth in reserves is looking good.
Well NSW cup side did play GF last year.
They might look even better this year with LKT and Reed.
That's better then our reserves being terrible as well.
