watched Flanno in his p conference and in coaching box last couple of wks, it looks like he is struggling with anxiety/ stress, to pt it could be unhealthy Whatever is said about his coaching etc I hope he stays healthy. Some things in life are more important than football
He looked extremely distraught, I kinda felt sorry for him, it's obvious it's not just him, there’s a bad smell within the corridors of this JV. I just wished a rich sugar daddy with good intentions could buy the club.

So not only will Shane be leaving, I’m getting the feeling a number of our “so called promising juniors” might be leaving as well due to the total disillusionment with the club and where it is heading…. an absolute unmitigated disaster

Keep your chins up Dragons, things can get better.

The lowest point for us was obviously the wooden spoon at the end of the year, but I'll never forget Brodie Croft literally crying on the field after consecutive losses that year. I imagine the club politics are pretty f**ked for you guys though, making the situation pretty tough.

this is easily as important as the on-field losses.. its why Shane needs to be removed immediately.. hes holding us back from recruitment and junior retention (couchies, halangahu, lpt etc).. meaning the damage he is doing will haunt us in the future also if we sit on our hands any longer.

Almost getting to the point where Flanno needs to be given a release on mental health grounds imo. He’s clearly struggling and has been for a while. Presser was tough to watch tbh…. Let alone tough to hear with the cleaning lady starting early.

The real sad part is that there's so many people at the Broncos, let alone an entire city, with high expectations, who wouldn't allow the failures to last at the Broncos more than a year or two. The club politics are beyond dysfunctional but they are seemingly the symptom of a disunited joint venture that just gets more stagnant every year, and I don't see anyone like a Ben Ikin/Dave Donaghy/Phil Gould coming to save the club. Just remember we've already chopped and changed assistants, CEO, recruitment officers in very recent times to absolutely no effect.

Appreciate the well wishes though.

I think the volumes of posts for this club on this site alone just go to show how many red and white supporters out there who would be feeling disconsolate now, and, just like Brisbane, they deserve so much better too.

If flannagan was fair dinkum he'd acknowledge that he's failed and come to an agreement sacrificing some money as a compromise.

If he doesn't give a shit about St George, he'll stay the full term.

The board aren't sacking him as they would be admitting they are also failures and wasting major $$$ on payouts.

I predict that Flanno will be going nowhere because he thinks he's bigger than the club.

Just remember if he stays the full term - Kyle will be set up for life monetary wise. So Shane ain't moving

Why did you say this earlier today then?

"Flannagan will be sacked tomorrow just heard. This game was pencilled in This was the straw that broke the camels back."

I just watched the Dragons press conference.
I felt sorry for Shane Flanagan ,he is a beaten man ,for his long term health I seriously believe the Dragons Management should act now in order to protect his longevity.
He is absolutely totally bereft of answers on our deficiencies ,or have any ideas how to address the substantial problems facing the team going forward.
I honestly believe his support staff are also poor and offer little assistance to him.
Dean Young and Michael Ennis are not the answer going forward,in no way should either man be appointed to the Head Coaching role.

I think Cooper Cronk said it correctly on SF's future as HC at the Dragons.

Shane will have until the bye to jag a win or 2. That's 3 games: Manly, Rabbits and Roosters (ANZAC DAY). They may reassess from there.

Personally, that presser was hard to watch, and even the ardent distractor would feel for him.

Again, the issue for me is who replaces him (if it comes to that)? Surely, we can't, and shouldn't, parachute the likes of DY or ME into the role as they are part of the current problem, are they not!

Hi Dragonslayer,

Why is that an issue for you now when it wasn't an issue for you when you commented on the potential sackings of Griffin and McGregor as per quotes below from you?

Griffin and McGregor had superior records as our head coach to Flanagan and yet going off your previous posts below, you were not concerned with whom they were being replaced with?

This is purely you creating unnecessary doubt and obviously holding double standards.

Flanagan's piss poor record speaks for itself, he needs to be moved on and our BOD can then go about finding the best possible replacement.

There are 7 rounds left of our season. If we sack him now his 800+ salary goes into next years cap for staff. Hard to attract a top-line coach when you can only offer peanuts next year.

Wait until 1st Nov, then, as it has been widly reported, we are only in for 50% of his 2021 salary. With this we could attract a reasonable level coach.

For arguements sake lets say we would have 400 - 500k to lure a prospect.

Would you pay a rookie that much? And do we really want or need a rookie?
Would Wane sign on for this amount?
If Flanagan is cleared would he accept this $$.

I believe any of the deadwood coaches would, however, they are dead wood for a reason.

Whatever the outcome, the must have is the final 80 something days of McGregor.

What interests me is that if Griffin is sacked tomorrow:

1. When?
2. Has he been 'told' already? if not then surely, he must know in himself.
3. Who prepares the team list for Friday night?
4. or, has it already been decided and by whom?
5. Will Hunt be listed at hooker?
6. If Griifin has prepared the team list already does Bud's name appear?
7. Will Hunt actually 'perform' or put on a sulk performance?
8. Will the interim coach have full reign to chose the team himself, adjust the team himself or is he just a means to and end and we see the same old same old?
9. When will the new HC be announced? Will that be rubber stamped in the GM tomorrow also?

There's a sudden atmosphere of excitement mixed with apprehension building. Griffin has proven to be a train-wreck, particularly this year. His treatment of Sullivan was akin to dereliction of duty and an act of pure vengefulness.

For us to totally turn around we also have to make the tough calls, in particular Ben Hunt. No doubt he has been our, let's say best player, and we've won games simply on the back of his plays, however, the interference and egotistical manner he exhibits off the field (and sometimes on it as well) is rotting away at our future foundations. Yes, he wants to be the star, the main man etc, but doing so at the expense of others is not leadership, and definitely not a quality we need in our squad.

I see a lot of comments about Hunt preferring to play with Amone, and why not, Amone is passive and will not outshine Ben. But, in truth does Amone like playing with Hunt? This seems to be a missed question asked. Amone and Bud have played just about their entire juniors with each other, each having particular skills that interweave with their style of play. This has yet to be explored in full, however, we saw glimpses of that combination last year. Why has it been suppressed? There's just one answer, and I think we all know that answer.

So yes, farewell (hopefully) Griffin, and although I dislike someone losing their job, especially at his age, he has brought this entirely on himself. He cannot look to blame anyone else, it sits firmly on his shoulders as the designated HC.

I look forward to tomorrow.

And that's exactly the careless, heartless, brainless reaction I have come to expect from this club. As if the problem is going to go away....buy a bit more time if nothing else.

Yeah, we don't want our club directors to make a rash decision and replace him with Joe Blow but they are the same people who raced in to resign SF and get us in this mess, a third time.

Manly sacked a coach with a 50% record because they 'simply don't tolerate being embarrassed on their home ground".

Just get a caretaker in to show a bit of decency to the fans, and put to effect the clauses they surely put in place when extending the coach.its their job to move us in the right direction. Surely contingency plans have been discussed behind closed doors.

Would Cooper Cronk say the same if it were Roosters or Storm?

How much longer are some people going to stay in denial?

This is no longer about one bad game, bad luck, injuries, or “just give it time.” This is now 0-5, dead last territory, and a 32-0 humiliation at home.

At what point does blind loyalty become acceptance of failure?

The people still defending Shane Flanagan keep talking about culture, effort, and what’s supposedly happening behind the scenes. But this is professional sport — the only truth is what happens on the field. And what keeps happening on the field is the same mess every single week.

Missed tackles. Poor discipline. No attacking shape. No resilience when momentum swings. No ability to recover once the game starts slipping. The most alarming part is that after two full years in charge, there is still no visible identity to this football side.

That is not “part of the process.”
That is a rebuild going backwards.

The Cowboys didn’t just beat us. They embarrassed us 32-0 on our own turf, and the game honestly felt over long before full-time because the body language screamed a team that has stopped believing in what it’s being coached to do.

That’s what the denialists refuse to acknowledge.

This isn’t negativity from fans. This is accountability.

Supporters are not asking for a premiership. They are asking for evidence of progress:
• better defensive systems
• smarter game management
• reduced errors
• a clear attacking identity
• some week-to-week growth

Instead, every KPI that matters says the exact opposite.

Five games in and we look worse than last season. Worse defensively. Worse structurally. Worse mentally.

So the real question is no longer “should we trust the process?”

It’s this:

What exactly is the process producing?

Because right now all it’s producing is excuses, denial, and a football side that looks further from finals than when Flanagan first arrived.

If people still can’t see that after 32-0 at home, they’re not backing the club — they’re backing mediocrity.

This was one of your best calls below, Thrush. You're so out of touch with reality, hope you're not having a Flanagan episode repeating the same basic phrase over and over 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Wow, this place has quickly turned into a cesspit, some high level negative vibes happening.
Parra at commbank, cant see us winning that but we should beat titans, cows and Manly.
3W 3L after 6 weeks.

Cronk has also been very vocal on our total lack of skill in the halves.
