To be honest we are going backwards…. how many years of transition do we need
Yep absolutely and it is the complete opposite of Flanagan's own rhetoric since he became coach. To be honest we are going backwards…. how many years of transition do we need
What was our excuse last year
How did Webster go first year in charge of the warriors and how did they go the year before that?so you want a coach to win a comp in the first year or arriving at a club who’s been in the bottom half for years hahaha
things to take. As they say. Rome wasn’t built in a day
Unfortunately this years result will be worse than last….we are going backwards not improving. We will be lucky not to finish in the bottom 4… a lot of other teams have improved…. we have not…. We are told another transition year…. transition to what??? Juniors coming through will become disillusioned and leave….. without a leader who can ice close games next year will be another like this… maybe worse seeing we will be without our best defender JDBso you want a coach to win a comp in the first year or arriving at a club who’s been in the bottom half for years hahaha

There are countless areas of the game that are 'coachable areas' and we are sorely lacking in these which are Flanagan's responsibility such as:There’s a lot of complaining about our recruitment. The lack of middles, the nepo 7 situation. So what is the value of our squad vs the roosters? We must be talking millions in difference. Yet the expectation is we should win? We pushed these guys all the way. Also pushed the number 1 team last week to the limit too.
Let’s be realistic, Flanno most weeks has them performing above their level. There’s a recruitment problem more than a coaching problem.
Who? Dean Young get off the pipeSpot on mate but just a refresh on some of the logic of our old mates on here:
- Flanagan needs more time at the 1.5 year mark of his 3 year deal because we're rebuilding from Griffin's two and a half seasons as coach.
- In Griffin's two and a half seasons, he had ample time to rebuild from his predecessor Mary's six years as coach. However please don't compare this to the time Flanagan has had now as it hurts too many feelings.
- Griffin definitely had the roster he wanted in the same amount of time as Flanagan, but Flanagan doesn't have his roster yet. Don't ask why, just coz.
- Even though it is likely we will have a worse season this year than last, well nothing to see here as we had injuries, lost some close games and how good that some juniors got a run this year. This alone is why Flanagan should be extended.
Anyway to conclude, I cannot wait for this fool of a coach to be moved on and we get a coach who actually has some integrity and knowledge.
Disagree. There are countless areas of the game that are 'coachable areas' and we are sorely lacking in these which are Flanagan's responsibility such as:
- Kick chase - we often do not chase kicks effectively and on occasion pass it to a second rower such as Su'a to put a kick in.
- Line speed - speaks for itself. Non existent.
- Completing sets - We've had many woeful completion rates this season.
- last tackle options - ie passing to Su'a or Val on the last tackle when in good ball. Kyle kicking down the throat of the opposition back three when not in good ball.
- Set plays - besides our sweeping plays out to the wings, we seem to lack any other decent set plays which lead to points. The roosters adjusted to this in the second half and we had no answers once our one play was cut off.
So I disagree, performance is still an issue and will remain one while Flanagan is coaching.
So whos level are we at cause we finished 11th under Griffin in his last full year and he was sacked?Di
Disagree.
The only possibles to even make their team are probably Holmes and Sua. Physically we are not at their level, so we can’t maintain line speed, ruck control, kick chase etc. Kick options are coming from this nepo 7 so many whinge about, as a player that shouldn’t even be there there? Thats have it both ways.
He is the coach ANDThere’s a lot of complaining about our recruitment. The lack of middles, the nepo 7 situation. So what is the value of our squad vs the roosters? Excellent post! And when you say recruitment , definitely not the staffs fault. That’s the clubs fault for being so poor for Soo long! And clubs fault for not having proper recruitment staff to sell the finished product. Even a decent ceo!! UNTIL now with watsford & hopefully the landing of Anderson. There’s a lot of complaining about our recruitment. The lack of middles, the nepo 7 situation. So what is the value of our squad vs the roosters? We must be talking millions in difference. Yet the expectation is we should win? We pushed these guys all the way. Honestly mate. Have you f**king seen our squad?Another game we should have won, lost.
We are so prone to losing that we have pretty much forgotten how to win a contested game.
Our coaches of the last decade are just not winners. Not Flanagan bashing but he clearly doesn't know how to instil what is needed to be a top 4 team team, at least with the calibre of players he would ever be able to assemble.
2026 might be an improvement, but I don't really know how we can quickly do away with our losing mentality. Teams get this way when mediocrity is set as a standard.
We've been talking about this for years and now we are paying the price all over again.
What a hollow feeling.
Should have got the job done for Su'A but Suli, Lawrie and Klemmer just doing things in our own half that we should have done away with years ago.
And here's the thing, they will be invited to do it again next week, and forgiven.
Yes well guess what? You can still criticise the poor outcomes from a player even if you believe the player shouldn't be in the team, so it certainly isn't having it both ways.Disagree.
