I don’t understand the anti Flanno culture that has particularly developed this season. We have lost some very close games this year which is heart breaking but much better than being flogged just about every game before Flanno game along. Because of those close loses makes Where we sit on the ladder not a true indication of the teams performances this season. Looking at the mountain of negative comments on FB about Flanno and Kyle makes the Dragons fans look like a pack Whingers. This is obviously not true as most Dragon fans show loyalty and appreciate the on going improvement of the team under Flanno’s coaching.

Good post. Even Kyle. Yes he isn’t the “marquee half” though it’s the only decent half we have.

The regular members of that club have repeated that message since 2023.. before Shane even started work.. thats how I knew there was no reason to take their posts seriously (basically the only guys I have blocked).. 6 months of non-stop bagging the coach before a ball is kicked.. I mean what discourse is there to be had?

I will admit the thought of Deano inheriting our head coaching gig with 0 coaching experience does make me want to go full I'mHornby myself... but I would still 'try' to see the brighter side... but Shane is a premiership winning NRL coach.. there is no comparison. Another example might be if we had hired Maguire.. I think he is a complete flog of a bloke.. but gotta give him a fair crack if he became our coach.. winning an NRL premiership is elite.

I think we should have appointed Supercoach Albert to relive our golden era of 89-90, and have his sprog as his assistant.

And after a probation period of maybe a decade, a seamless handover could take place, thus we could enjoy a couple of decades of coaching magic.

We could become the new "family club" and be the envy of the competition.

Indeed I did break into head office.

I interrupted the board divided into two teams having a best of 3, counting to two contest.

They looked exhausted because they'd been competing for 2 days and no one had registered a win yet.

Flanno isnt perfect, but he can get a side up for gameday, imagine if he actually had a squad with the talent that most other NRL sides are blessed with... and a forward pack that regularly matched their opposition... or a long kicking game... I think he outcoaches a lot of his fancier rivals.

But the more I thought about it, the more it became what was the alternative and unless they had Bellamy/Bennett lined up (which is never happening).. it just would have led to 1-2 yrs of absolute hot mess with recruitment and results while we transitioned.. for a new coach who was no more likely to succeed than this one.... I dont think we have a choice but to give Flanno some decent support in terms of backroom staff.. help him fix this roster... and let the guy coach...

I will say however that part of that staff we need is 1 or 2 quality football heads to act as sounding boards for Flanno.. you all know what its like when your inside your own head all the time, how you can get it wrong with the way you see certain issues... let alone a man in a pressure position like Shane is.. you need rational clever football finds to bounce off.. and we didnt have that the last 2 years.. bar perhaps Deano.. but I think we can do much better, more than just 'run hard tackle hard' we needed clever brains for both on-field stuff and recruitment.s

Yaa 100%, I would suggest he is providing some level of the GM role that Haran cant.. but I would hope we will also add an actual GM to the club at some point when/if we replace Haran...

Tbf I dont know how well Flanno and Anderson get along.. I sure hope it is or will be a strong relationship.. but whether he trusts Anderson to that extend im not sure.. esp only a few weeks into the role.. but hopefully yes!

It’s been a successful season. If you agree we should have beaten the Dogs a few weeks back then yes, it’s been a great month.

I’ll admit I was also a dickhead recently due to impatience & frustrations with the club since whenever, however Saturdays effort changed a crapload for me…that was an immense effort & the decision to extend him for stability seems (at this juncture at least) to be justified
It’s an about face that for now, I’ll happily cop.
Get back to me in about 12 months & I’ll either be in the back or sack column I suppose…
