Shane Flanagan
2024–St. George Illawarra501903138% winning record

Anthony Griffin

2021–23St. George Illawarra582503343% winning record

Paul McGregor

2014–20St. George Illawarra1517008146% winning record

These are pretty damning facts. He's now nearing Griffin's number of games in charge and could only dream of having a record as good as his. Kyle picked every single week too. You can't be surprised some ask why.
McGregor - did ok for a rookie coach, made finals twice, got some players in good form.

Griffin - I thought everything was terrible.

Flanagan - Probably not the best thing to have Kyle playing at the Dragons, however there seems to be quite some changes to the club in the background and focus on juniors with a plan moving forward which we haven't had in a long time.
Unfortunately the wins are not coming. I don't think sacking him and bringing in another coach and changing things again is going to bring on the wins.

He knows we need a couple more good signings to compete with top sides.
Let's hope that happens soon.

I reckon Flano's winning record will drop to 35% by the end of this year.

And we've got two more years of Flano after this year?

If my calcs are correct, your predicting 7 wins in 2026. That's pretty bad.
last year we did only have 8 wins and were all hoping we can improve on that.

From memory we play something like 5 or 6 out of the top 8 sides from 2025 only once, that's a favourable draw.

I reckon let him keep going, he’s showed a willingness in setting up pathways, another year or 2. There’s no questioning his commitment or work ethic. Let everything get established and then kick him and Kyle out the door and get a more competent HC

How about we wait and see how the rebuild unfolds........say mid 2027.......... before we jump the gun and sack him. With Keaon coming, Atkinson with a full season as a playmaker, the couchies, Hamish, Egan, LPT, Halangau with more NRL under their belts, Reed and Atko as our halves, maybe a few recruits like Bula, Xerri, Barnett type middle shake loose, our CEO/DA/Lancaster/Creigh tap into some extra TPA sources and we become successful and consistent.......do you still want him gone???
Chopping and changing will only prolonged the rebuild/success. If we are still a bottom half of the ladder team in mid 2027, I'll lead the sack Flanno rallies.

That’s pretty much what I said, I should have explicitly said wait and see after a year or 2, but I expected mediocrity. if that changes, I’m all for keeping him onboard if fortunes turn around

Flanno should be immediately replaced by Willie Peters, closely followed by Dean Young. Willie Peters to hire his assistant coach.
When you say immediately, do you mean announcement tomorrow night?
How would you get Willie Peters out of England in round 5 of 27?
Has a coach ever walked out on a club in round 5 to take a better opportunity?
Im curious as to how the immediate replacement is going to work, how are you seeing it?

Flanagan's main problem is team selection. The team needs a good shake-up and to be put on notice regarding their performance.

Holmes to fullback
Gutheson to center
Fale to replace CT on the left wing
CT to NSW Cup
Buchanan to replace Suli at center
Suli to the bench
Atkinson to five-eighth
Reed to halfback
Kyle to NSW Cup
Reed to halfback
Leilua to the prop rotation
Halangahu to the right edge
Su'A to the left edge
Stewart to lock

Yes, sackings as a matter of urgency. We have wasted too many seasons over the past 15 years.

I wouold propose at trade, Young for Peters.

Some of your best work possm.
A “coach trade” after 5 rounds of 2026 for Willie Peters who is contracted until end of 2028, on the back of winning the comp. And they get Dean Young. Harsh on Hull KR fans, poor bastards.
