Why would we buy someone slower?

But yes, plenty of cattle next season for the backline ranks. Should be a much speedier backline next year, especially if past performances mean nothing ( for team selection)

Sack him. Had a great career but he is past it, he can't match it with the likes of Inu, Falou or any of those young emerging backs.

He's never been the greatest athlete, but was always clever enough to get away with it but these days when you got guys like folau, inu, hayne, etc who are all so much bigger, so much faster, so much more athletic, hazem is perhaps a obsolete model. Last night truely showed how slow he is, he had a good 10m start on mark henry who is a backrower/centre, henry ran him down within 30m, that shouyld not happen to any 1st grade winger (no disrespect to henry)

Andrew Emelio and that other winger that played first grade earlier in the season are better choices on the wing than El Masri.. and Utai

bit of an over-reaction, not the easiest person to replace. Doesn't he average about 10 points game, not a bad stat to take into every game. While he's definitely lost alot of pace, still a smart player and a player who should be allowed to leave on his own terms, although i'm predicting that next season will be his last season.

Glad some people with a brain had a say in this thread.

Maybe i did over react a wee bit in this thread.

With all due respect, Haz has been a great servant to this club. He has been a great player and is one of the nicest blokes.

His time is over though.

EDIT: BTW Covell would have scored that try

i cant agree more with the thread starter. I think he's past it. it will be interesting to see how he starts next season. not the sort of player folkes would drop on the spot.

Folkes all but said it at the press conference. He said something along the lines of... Hazem would have scored that try 5 years ago.

How many people in the NRL can outrun Matt Bowen? I very much doubt many players from our team can. At least El Masri read and caught the Sherwin kick.

No prizes for 2nd. Haz 5 years ago would have scored that try. There is no denying that any other winger in the NRL and PL, ESL, Bartercard Cup, Flegg, SG Ball, HM would have scored that try.

No player in our team is quick enough to chase down Bowen. There arn't many in the NRL. Makes our team all the more poorer when we are the slowest in the whole NRL.

Remember a few weeks back when Sonny made a break in a game. He was waiting for Haz to catch up whilst positioning the fullback to put Haz in a good position to run for the line. Sonny had to wait so long that he went himself and almost got there. that should not be the case.

IMO what Hazem Lacks in speed he makes up for in kicking. He's won us so many games with important conversions. The game against Brisbane for example. 25-24. Had he missed 1 kick, it would've all been over. We would've missed out on the finals if he missed 1 kick from that game. That's how important he is. It's the little things that matter. You wouldn't want someone like Roberts or Sherwin attempting a kick from the sideline in the Preliminary final if the score is 18-16 in favour of Melbourne with 1 minute left on the clock.

His consistency is also reflected in his career points. In 7 years at the helm of Bulldogs goalkicking, he's nearly chased down Daryl Halligans record which started from 1992.
