OK IF the CEO and board had to re-sign the coach why didn't they:

1. Add a clause that IF he failed to make the 8 in 2017, the club had the option to sack him?

2. Re-sign him for 1 year (2018)?

Why a 2 year extension? Let's get fair dinkum - there is no other club that would sign Mary.
Because that requires forward, logical thinking. That left our club many years ago.

Don't be surprised if Mcgregor is sacked next month! You read it here first..was told today by a very influential agent that 2 board members from the Dragons side have asked for an urgent review of the whole coaching structure
Red herring.
Make the fans think the board are proactive.
Just like last years committee was designed to review performance which led to SuperCoach keeping his job.

He just landed a great signing in james graham, cant wait til u eat ur words next year when we win the comp
He didn't land him. He fell into our laps because he was being shopped around with the Knights being the only other club with space under the cap.He also didn't want to pack up & move which also played into our hands. So don't go giving L plate too much credit.

PRESS RELEASE DRAFT SEEN ON DOUST'S DESK

“We appreciate Paul’s passion for the Dragons, and we have great respect for him both personally and professionally. We needed to see progress with this rugby league team. We needed to see development and improvement as the season evolved and, unfortunately, we took a concerning step backward in the second half of the year. …Our fans deserve to see a consistently competitive team. We have high standards, and there’s an urgency for success. When we believed we were not positioned to achieve significant progress we knew we had to admit that a change was needed, and move forward.”

PRESS RELEASE DRAFT SEEN ON DOUST'S DESK

“We felt that this move was in the best interests of the St George Illawarra Dragons and our future. I enjoyed getting to know Paul over the past several decades as a player and coach, and want to thank him, not just for his contribution to the Dragons, but also the insight he was able to provide. He is a fine man and I hope he has the best of success as he moves forward with their career. …. It’s our job to find the right coach and bring stability long term for the organization. That’s our role. Our goal is to get the best person. …We’re going to explore all avenues, The key is to get the right person. …Strong leadership.”

Banjo.....I wish!! If the Tigers, Rabbitohs, Titans and soon the Bulldogs can sack their contracted coaches for underperforming, then why can't the friggin Dragons do likewise?
Surely the inbreeding boys club mentality can & must be removed.

PRESS RELASE SEEN ON DOUSTS DESK.

We believe Paul has a bright future as a NRL coach and are pleased to announce that we have extended his contract to a lifetime appointment. We were very pleased with finishing a credible ninth this year, we were predicted to come second last you know?

PRESS RELEASE SEEN ON DOUSTS DESK.

After conducting an exhaustive season review, we have spoken to all our staff at the St George Illawarra Dragons and have taken the conclusion of the man who cleans the toilets at Kogarah Jubilee Oval that Paul is in fact a master coach.

We also contacted all current off contract NRL coaches and after receiving all replys, which mainly consisted of comments like "poison chalice" and "not if Giselle Bundchen" was my personal secretary, the conclusion was reached that a local necromancer be hired to bring back Harry Bath from the dead.

After this failed, and the board decided it was sick of the fans complaining about "winning" and " finals football" and that the only appropriate course of action was to reappoint My mate Paul on a lifetime contract.
This way the fans will not come to expect this "winning" thing they keep talking about and we can get back to respectable bottom table finishes until the NRL decides to move us to Perth.

i doubt he will be sacked. he just re-signed for 2 years
Souths re-signed Madge last year for 3 years and sacked him this year with 2 years remaining.
Why the F^ck the club re-signed McWreckor for 2 years is beyond belief. I bet the contract is also in his favour. Who negotiates these contracts? Mary has NO leverage because guess what?? There's no other club chasing him. WE HAVE ALL THE LEVERAGE you f%ckwits.
