I agree to an extent about our backs. Where it falls apart is the inability of Widdop & Hunt to direct instead of play. They are great players in their own right but at times they try too hard & should be barking orders at the like of our wingers & centres instead of taking the hit up. A few repeat sets to build pressure wouldn’t go astray either.
Yeah, we play much better when they are taking charge, organising and not overplaying their hand. That’s true of all league teams of course, but they were both below their standards yesterday. Interestingly I just looked at forced dropouts per team this year - dragons at just above average with 1.4 a game, but the strange thing is, teams 1& 2 are the eels and tigers with 2.4 and 2.3 per game. And running dead last with 0.8 - the bunnies.

Why did the Dragons only start playing football in the last 10 minutes? Where did that come from?

Just answer me that.

This coach is no man motivator.
The coach's motivational words should be ringing in the players' heads as they run onto the field - ready to spill blood for the coach, club & fans.
Afraid of failure like the AllBlacks.

Look at an AllBlack captain after a loss.
It's the face of shame
Widdop was jovial, smug ... no worries
They have each other's backs and the wanking's mutual. No recriminations in this mutual admiration society - and boys it's all OK ... no one gets dropped & we've overachieved anyway ... Cheers

(Oh and fu*k the fans)

And I was gob smacked to hear him say: "I hope it's not attitude"
FFUUUUCCMD!

Mate you're in way over your head.
You don't even understand that.
And you'd be totally incapable of addressing it anyway FFS.

It's endgame Doust

The listless, lazy starts I'm reading about suggest to me a lack of fear and respect engendered by a coach who's 'one of the boys', whose solution to glaring attitudinal issues is to 'sit down and have a talk about it ... play to our standards'
All cosy theoretical matey stuff, paying lip service to & papering over the widening & predictable cracks in the edifice.

They play well in the last 10 minutes because that's the only time they feel fear all week.

It's not therefore a fitness issue per se.
They don't respect the coach as a coach with real presence, with that mongrel 'you'll win this at all costs & leave nothing out there' Gibson/Bath/Provan/Bellamy/AllBlack fear factor.

Mary's soft, unobtrusive & sets the expectation bar way too low.

But hey nice and comfortable. .... Like going through the motions.

No grind. Easy as down here at Jubilee ...one big happy half day out.

That's why just making the 8 is the goal - winning the flag a bridge too far, playing your guts out for a full 80 minutes? geez we'll leave that for the indefinable future, after another great preseason maybe.

Yeah right 'play what's in front of you' .... One out, bash and barge...

No technical, tactical nous , finesse - or the rat cunning of Flanagan or Bellamy. Mary's an easy touch for rival coaches.
They have his measure because there's nothing much there to challenge the intellect. I feel sorry for him, but as a fan also cheated by him.

And of course he has almost deliberately and systematically sabotaged our usable depth by his aversion to youth ( oh yeah that's right it's the myopic and personal perspective again - he had to wait till he was 24 was it for an NRL gig, so the young fuc*ers can wait their turn or go elsewhere who cares we're tight here and cosysafe with my anointed 17 my mates... Blah, blah, blah).

Affronted - it's hard to define. Angry that such a potentially great team is being short changed with another wasted year?

..."can't play without field position"

FMD the cliches unmask the fraud.

Well I'm afraid if field position is the measure then that has to be earned by a player's blood, sweat & tears over 80 minutes.
It's attritional.
A war

No shortcuts, cameos or luck.

...earned by a coach's astute tactical preparation (and enforcement of the standard by selecting ruthlessly on specific gameplan & form) AND by a CEO appointing a coach capable of winning a premiership - and not a dithering lame duck like we have.

Perfectly said and very true.
I hate the smugness of Widdop and Mary, little lovers that they are, got each other's backs while offering up shit.
If only we had a hard nosed coach and captain, who detested losing.
When Mary goes, Widdop should follow.
Both are losers.

Why, they deserve to meet the skull in a dark alley.
Might turn them into men.
They sure as hell need something to wake them up.
What’s that you say ouryears? You’re a fan of scumbag Nazi thugs? Makes sense, dense trolls like you are natural bootlickers.

I don't need to listen in on the conversations.
I have eyes, you can see the poor attitude and preparation every time they run onto the feild against weaker teams and the results show it.
They only started playing football in the last ten minuites against the Tigers, they were woeful for the first 70.

How many times this year have we let in the first try?
How many games have we scraped a win with individual brilliance getting us out of jail against terrible football teams?
How many times have we all said "we should put 50 on them" only to lose, or just win in the dying seconds?

It's poor preparation and attitude, that comes from the top down.

You are an idiot
Calling trolls when you applaud mediocrity.
You have the genes of a troll, not me.
If skull is a Nazi then some of our players might step up in a dark alley and teach the grub a lesson, because they sure as hell don't step up when the moment comes on the field.

Quit applauding mediocrity, you need to step up too.
Be a man, some honesty will be a start. Quit the arse licking of our poor performing players who earn up to $18,000 every week.

Trolls applaud mediocrity, they sure as hell don't demand better performances from a team.

As Wayne said, firstly, look at the man in the mirror.

Claims to be a dragons supporter.

Doesn't know who skull is.

Seems legit.

If they lose to the Cows a change up needs to be immediate to cauterise the bleeding. Frizell to captain for starters then wield the axe and go for broke, with Doust putting Mary on notice if changes aren't made.
Somehow though we'll be snookered for this year.
A Catch-22 of Mary's making.

The hair was a charity thing.
But your right, Widdop has a long history of going missing in tough games.
That's not the man you make captain.
I spoke out sgainst the idea of making Graham captain in his first year at the club, but by god we need someone with his fire and passion leading this team.
Perhaps Tyson, but I'm not sure about his on field talking ability, perhaps JDB?
Someone with fire, not excuses.

GET RID OF LEONARDO DI VINCI AND GET A COACH FOR THIS GREAT CLUB .MR DOUST MAKE THIS YOUR GOING AWAY GIFT TO THE LONG SUFFERING SUPPORTERS ............

Calm down, Doust's last gift to us was a three year contract extension after one good performance on Anzac Day, that turned out to be a flaming pile of dog poo on our doorstep.
So I waive the right to any more gifts from Doust thanks very much.

Widdop is one of our best. Always our leading player in Daliy M's and other awards...As soon as we lose everyone is looking to blast Widdop and in reality he has won us more games than he has lost us. Glad he is in our team.
