You chicken littles are just as bad - nobody thinks he should be saved, but you tools need to stop looking to pin every single negative on him.
Mann played out of his skin behind a pack that turned up.
I congratulate Mary for finally recognising Field as the potential points machine, something I've been saying all year - especially with his combinations with Luc.

He just needs to put the right players on the field and they'll win games in spite of his shortcomings.
Last night was the first change in the halves all year - and the change up should've opened Mary's eyes to the fact that experimentation can renew and invigorate an attack.

He has 2 better defensive and attacking weapons in Lomax & Herbert - stick them on the field for a crack, the world won't collapse Mary

Make Graham capt, move Hunt to 9 & play Field & Mann in the halves - at least for periods of games. Widdop to fullback.
Behind that pack these guys will deliver your points & get the Forum off your back - and it ain't too late in the year, as Field fitted in like a glove, as would Herbert & Lomax
The above mix could win this strange comp if they're given a shot - and the ball's in your court Mary.

Don't think 'make the 8' - think 'win the comp'

This year

There’s no way McInnes should be dropped.

Agree, but I'm talking for 'periods of games' where you mix it up and disrupt the best laid plans of guys like Bellamy - you know, Plan B & C.
Then you have to ask yourself the question if you're being reasonable:
'Why did Bennett & Walters use Benny at 9 - and what were the results of that change up?'

And while I'm on positional shifts, Widdop was a whisker off being a World Cup winning fullback ( a position that doesn't allow you the luxury of going MIA occasionally, as happens in his NRL performances of late).

And was there a connection between Gareth's absence and the shift in attitude last night - or was it Mann's preparedness to bleed for his position that stirred the boys out of their torpor??
I'm sure it wasn't McLucky's stirring motivational speech.
Maybe James' halftime one??

Nah, that performance was player driven - not for the coach - but for self respect

If Bennett had this team right now he'd've made the right selections and we'd win this comp, as the cattle are there in the 30

A great win boys - proud of you

Ahhh, I love some of the hypothetical 'if Bennett were coach' posts I see in here from time to time such as this one. It's all well and good to make a speculative statement like that and try to dress it up like a well known fact....But unfortunately it isn't at all factual, just your opinion, mate. Bennett has his hands full getting a young Brisbane team to aim up from week to week at the moment!

You're right that it was a good win and the effort showed by the players last night goes to show the coach can still get them up for a game which some have been doubting lately.

Too scared to blood the young ones? Haha dufty, lomax, luc, robsen, Pereira, Host, lawrie and prob more have all debut under mary
Poor handling off our roster HAHAHAHABSHSBSBSBSBABS HAHAHAH.. in neeed of break, wtf?? All teams at this stage of the year have players carrying injuries. The shit people make up about mary.

Lomax only played charity shield so far...Robson..minimal minutes off the bench...same for the others...

If your a fan of the coach you are entitled to your opinion....In my opnion there are more questions to be answered...anyway lets all enjoy the win...

Where would McInnes and Dufty play in that team? I presume you aren't dropping our best attacking weapon and best 9 we have had in years altogether?

You might have to get used to no Dufty and start looking for a new full back. Next year could be his last for the Saints

Players come and go, thats the nature of the business. But while Dufty is a Dragon I would have him at 1. He's been a shining light for us this year and while he is definitely a work in progress he is looking to be a real star.
I cannot comprehend people talking about dropping him.

Love your enthusiasm....Lets remember that it was the Tigers....Not Storm/Roosters/Souths/Sharks...that will be the real test and we will need to improve a great deal to beat those teams....if we stay in the Top 4 we maybe a chance....personally I think we have too many defensive flaws to compete with those teams...

Yeah fair question Crush.
McInnes has been in the doldrums until last night - perhaps fatigue, so he could be rested occasionally during a match - replaced by Hunt? He would then be fresher in his runs out of dummy half
All I know is you can't gauge the true potential of players & different combinations unless you try them?

I mean surely Mann's & even Field's cameo last night showed the value of experimenting.

Most coaches seem to have moved players around according to game plans etc. Hayne's move to the wing produced a treble immediately etc

Widdop probably won't play again this season, but he surely offers better defence than Dufty at the moment. I love Matt .& his Xfactor, as I do Field. So If Widdop played some fullback during a game - say when we were defending in our half, I'd put Duff on the wing.

But to be fair to your question
I probably need to give you my full team built on attack - and tell you I drop Airken, Lafai & Pereira

I mean FFS Mary's given us more or less the same team sheet for years?
So for what it's worth I'd like to see:
Widdop
Nene
Lomax
Herbert
Dufty
Mann
Field
Sims
JDB
Luc
Vaughn
Hunt
Frizell

McInnes
Lam
Graham
Host

Rotate the above according to state of play & game plan.

Remember this team is the attack option & just my opinion fellas

Remember our conservative coach has given us the same ol'
team sheet ad nauseum, with little chance of testing best attack options

Thanks Kurt for maybe opening a window on the backline!

Why Shout..Everything in caps ??? Yes its an open comp...we still have issues with our right edge defense...and If the coach plays Nightingale on the right it may only exacerbate the issue...

We need the team to stay healthy..

Yes Tigers beat Storm earlier in the year..they are a different team now...Finals football is a different kettle of fish...Again love your enthusiasm and hope we can have a dig this year.

I think we need to be Top 4 to have any possible chance....Fingers crossed for a miracle...
