Mary was very impressive with his defence of his side after the loss.

A few excuses and jigs, but generally, foreman material.

Souths will be after him -once seibs has signed with the broncs next year.

A lot of itinerants and woofs in the saints squad and he’s done something with them.

Barrett and other coaches did a lot worse.

7.3 / 10 is a fair score for Mary.

We made it as far as we did this year despite Mary’s enept coaching and man management.
Individual pride and some superhuman efforts from guys like Sims, Debelin and Friz, combined with a return to form of Nene and Dufty ensured we finished with some restored respect, however for me it was another season of wasted opportunity and wasted development of our younger squad members..

It was a fair season for saints I thought. I am sure Mary contributed to the strength of character of those few good men rather than detracted from it. Having said that, I have zip idea of any discarded junior talent. There’s a guy named Damien Cook whom had spiders on him before this season.

Conference just proved that he was delighted with the end result.
He has hardly improved in 5 years.
The addition of Hunt gave the Team some extra momentum but to suggest he has developed players?
Like who?
Lomax, Periera and Lawrie all came in as replacements for injured payers.
Dufty was basically the same as the end of last year - rocks and diamonds.
Of the established brigade who's game improved?
Vaughn went backwards even before he got injured.
Aitkin went backwards.
Lafai was a non event and showed no improvement.
And so on.
Mark out of ten is not really a way to assess the coach.
another collapse and finally, dumb football exit last night.

I don’t see a lot of those mentioned in rep footy or otherwise regarded as high brow or blue chip.

You see a good coach is going to get fringe players into finals and he certainly achieved that plus you guys led the comp for weeks.

Clubs were quite frightened of you in 2018.

Everyone expected raw and sad weaselling after the loss, but mary was generally positive after such a bitter blow. It was good.

I fact, I might rate him higher at 8/10.

The anti coach rating rules, they do not apply to me or...Mary I guess.

5.5 in my opinion.
Had the squad for top 4
Failed
5.5 equals the sack

Illawarra was financially crippled
And saints had not many juniors
Bad combination
True, but these days the league is forever sinking money into struggling clubs. Perhaps to end the geographical stink, the nrl should recognise the historical premierships of saints and the red v changed to Scarlett?!

While you are focused on what suits you, most of us have endured McGregor for a number of years.
But even taking your generous appraisal into account, the facts are still plain for all to see.
St. George led the comp for 14 weeks and ultimately skidded into 7th place.
Exit week 2 of the finals.
The undisputable fact is that no team has every won the premiership from outside the top 4.
This has been emphatically demonstrated by the last 4 teams left to contest the big prize in 2018.
All top 4.
So by not being able to arrest the slide, the chances of St. George winning the comp under McGregor (statistically at least) diminished to zero.
Do you get where I'm coming from?
We have been waiting for McGregor to improve as a coach for 4 years and we still are subject to late season fades and poor game management in tight games.
Grinning and joking like a Cheshire cat after the Souths game just demonstrates what the problem with McGregor really is.
He and you are delighted with another wasted season.
No precision and, at the end of the day, no real threat to the title.
So please, go ahead and increase your dreamtime rating even higher...doesn't change reality.

Perfectly said DP.
Mary thinks week 2 finals is a good result.
Came 6th from 16.
Poor, lousy, crap.
His benchmark is so low, he has to go.

He’s not the worst coach in the NRL, started the season brilliantly and had them firing. Then he failed to rest players through the rep period and the team struggled, sinking to an all time low when we were beaten 40-0 at Kogarah by the doggies. However, he was able to turn it around with 3 solid performances after that and really had them firing for Brisbane. 5.5/10 for me, a low pass. Unless a better coach pops up at a reasonable price I’d let him see out his contact. You wouldn’t swap him for Barret, surely?
