“Aim high at me and leave me(sic) players alone...” gladly you useless imposter!
What the premature contract extension has inadvertently achieved is to make this fellow comfortable. His eyes are a world away.
You can tell he’s experiencing severe depression and doesn’t need this pressure anymore.
He’d be the happiest gear steward in the nrl.
What the premature contract extension has inadvertently achieved is to make this fellow comfortable.
Even if he loses every game from now until round 4 of next year two things are certain.
1. He will still pick up his pay cheque every month.
2. If he gets sacked, he will depart with a big payout.
McGregor has become the highest paid reserve grade standard coach in the history of the NRL.
What's truly laughable is that he has managed to do it for 6 long years.
Oh and McGregor's win loss record since the extension now reads 2 and 9
Well done Johnston - genius move renewing McGregor's contract AGAIN.
Mary in the press con talks about no 80 min effort lazy inside defenders players trying to solve problems themselves and poor individual efforts , he doesn't talk about how for the length of his tenure is the one out running , lack of off loads and the pressure on our defence by our inability to score .
He says they got 2 tries from kicks and we made mistakes and gave away penalties that lead to tries but these are things that well coached teams would train for and recover from but we use them as excuses .
No , players play to a model set out by the coaching staff and the players are chosen by the coach and it is the coach's responsibility to have them in the right headspace when they run on to play after all he sets the rules and recruits the players.
No unfortunately these performances at this point of the season have become the norm under Mary (no longer to be referred to as coach) we need a new coach now for next season to give them an edge for next year.
6.42Seconds into the confrence :
Mary: Aim up on me and leave my players alone, a little bit....

I love the fact that he uses “tries from kicks” as an excuse. A team with skill will throw a kick in here and there to see what it produces.
When you can’t coach a side and give them the game plan to score consistently and professionally, they resort to kicking in the hope of a try on every play. Now does that sound like a familiar plan? Sounds like the majority of the tries we have scored this year.
How many times a game does our ineffective attack resort to a kick?

How ironic is that statement !!McGregor is a symptom of the problem. When a board member proclaims that Mary is preferred over Bennett then you know there's a larger issue at play. The article is dated but it clearly illustrates just how rotten those that run the club are.

‘I think it’s important to look to the future and I think it’s important we do have a coach who can be long-term,’’ said O’Connor, who is also the Cutters chairman.
‘‘I think for the stability of the Dragons and the consistency of the Dragons we need a coach who can commit long-term to and nurture that production line of juniors.
‘‘As Mary has said, he’s not a career coach as such, he’s got a passion for the club here, the St George Illawarra Dragons.
‘‘We have a large talent pool of juniors and to maximise that talent pool and to have NRL players coming through you need a long-term coach.
‘‘I can easily see, having been involved with him at the [Illawarra] Cutters, that he could easily be the next supercoach.’
Nice of you to lend support.....is that payback for fudge PackerEven a lot of the hard core Sack Mary folk are just not up to it tonight.
Draino, car exhaust, gas oven or hanging by PlayStation controller cord are the preferred discussion topics.
R you ok day lasts a whole season with Mary.
