You’ve got a heap of star players out and are only one loss outside the 8. It’s not the Hindenburg.
No. It’s not.

The Hindenburg went out with a bang. We’re talking about a slow burn here. A tortuous cancer within the club that just keeps on festering with no end in sight.
A new owner and a new CEO had us gleefully hoping for change. If anything it’s getting worse.

Non saints fans wouldn’t see it.

Why are Sharks fans liking this post? They're the big purchase masters lately - Barba, Ennis, Maloney, Sharon, Duges, Moylan, SJ.

I will say this about the Sharks though - they are the perfect model for other teams to follow (minus the slapstick attempt at cap cheating) in the pursuit of success.

They've got the best batch of youngsters in the game (forget Brisbane) and when they do have to fill a gap in the roster they invariably make the right recruitment call. It's about striking that balance and it's won the Sharks a Premiership with another half decade of success at least on the cards courtesy of the likes of the Brailey boys, Flanagan, Xerri, Nikora and Jack Williams coming through.

That's how you win Premierships. Not by signing the Guthos of this world to 800k deals (hold firm, Parra - don't fall into old habits).

.
We have also had a lot of 1st graders come through our systems
Holmes
Ado Carr
Curtis Scott
Ramien
Peachey
Lichaa
Shaun Lane
Isaako
Salmon
and a few others not playing regular firsts.

We started our development programmes a while back and John Morris was part of that. Flanno, for all his faults, was outstanding for us in setting us up. Morris is the right man at the right time to carry it on.

You know Fifita was a bonus pick up when we signed Bryce Gibbs I think.
He was almost unknown.
Gibbs was the big signing
Could’ve been heinington actually
One of them.
We'd just lost Snowden and Douglas, we needed a couple of big boppers.
The Tigers were offering us Gibbs but Flanno said he'd only take him if he could get Fifita as well. The Tigers didnt really want to but relented.
Flanno was very good at deal making.
People may pay Woods out but he's been great for us, and we're only paying about 250k for him.

Also despite my post on the first played I do think the saints are f**ked memes are well and truly overplayed. If this is what you consider being ‘f**ked’ you haven’t experienced the bottom.

Pretty similar to us with Keary. Souths got rid of him and no one else wanted him. He was no where near a rep player when signed at end of 2016 and now he can't possibly fit in the cap apparently.

It just isn't fair.
Sorry Saints wanted Keary and you came in with a larger offer
Was almost signed
Not saying you over payed or cheated the cap to get him

I don't see how I have said anything wrong in my post. But yeah that guy who won 4 premierships can't coach Sheenius her durr.

To his credit however, he did pull our side out of the depths and got them at least competitive....

BUT

He won comps with a Canberra side that was way over the salary cap and a Wests Tigers side that played a half of a good season.

Maybe you missed his sacking from NQ, the John “our Cooper Cronk” Morris signing, the continuous shuffling of the deck chairs week on week, or maybe when Danny Galea was selected in the front row, or the continuous selection of Tim Moltzen at FB....I could go on..

Actually I will, Scott Longmuir was sacked because he dared to put accountability on to Sheens in the form of KPI’s. The board had to step in because the super coach didn’t like it.

Let's look at your points Canberra was deemed to be over the cap in 1990 and 91. They weren't in 1989 or 1994 or 1993 when they probably would have won the competition but for Ricky Stuart's injury.

So he doesn't deserve credit for this now lets see, I'm seeing you are projecting that they were always over the cap which must mean you think Trent Robinson also is a bad coach and Bellamy and Bennett, Flanagan, Hasler, Gould, Fulton basically every coach you can think of is a bad coach or unworthy even Jack Gibson since his teams would have been miles over the salary cap had it existed.

He built one of the greatest teams ever in Canberra as well as building the backbone of the Penrith team which won the competition in 1991. When Tim Sheens took over as Penrith coach in 1984 when no one wanted the job the club had 5 players registered for that season that is it the club was close to folding and had achieved absolutely nothing in the league in their first 17 years.

He basically changed junior development created pathways for young players and built the club single-handedly into the force they were to become. Penrith just missed out on the finals in 1984 and made it in 1985. He brought through all the young players which played a part in the 1991 success with the exception of Brad Fittler who he played a huge role in signing him for Penrith as Fittler mentions in his book and Steve Carter who Sheens also signed before leaving for Canberra.

Fair enough he failed at the Cowboys no one can dispute that.

Saying the Tigers only played well for half a season so what it was their only premiership in 50 years. Do you remember how bad the Tigers were under Terry Lamb that was only 3 years before 2005 he turned them from being memorable for having players laughing about someone sticking their finger in the oppositions arsehole to becoming premiers.

Tim Moltzen scored 29 tries in 55 games as a fullback it hardly sounds like the disaster Tigers fans make it out to be.

John Morris played over 300 first grade games he was only the 17th player in history to achieve this feat what a disastrous signing.

Danny Galea in the front row wasn't a good idea but given who his assistant coach was at the time, I would more say it was a Royce Simmons idea since he did the same thing to Matt Adamson, Sid Domic, Bobby Thompson, Morvin Edwards, Jason Williams and numerous other players when he was coaching at Penrith.

Is Warren Ryan a bad coach because he picked Greg Smith a guy who couldn't play Rugby League at all and fraudulently said he played in the NFL?

Does that undo all of Warren Ryan's previous achievements in the game? Considering his Bulldogs teams would have been over the cap if it had existed at the time.

‘Supercoach’ Tim Sheens made 3 finals series in his last 15 as an NRL coach

So they benefited from their breach?

think Trent Robinson also is a bad coach and Bellamy

Robinson ran second last in 2016 when his super star roster was sitting on the sidelines

Bellamy had no idea how to beat QLD who funnily enough contained his best 4 players at club level whom Melbourne were allowed to keep after breaching the cap. The next 3 years will be the acid test for Bellamy

The form of a young Benji Marshall and Scott Prince had a LOT to do with us winning the comp in 2005.

Fantastic

Balmain fans will probably say he is after his tactics possibly cost them a grand final victory

Considering his Bulldogs teams would have been over the cap if it had existed at the time.

No rules were breached so why even bring it up?

Did you miss the part where Sheens had a CEO fired because he dared put accountabillity on him?
