I've heard that Brooks and Moses are on VERY good money next season.

Paying hundreds of thousands for a f**king fairytale. The fact we are paying this much for two players that don't have 50 games between them baffles me.

Rather than wait 3-4 years to sort this out we should:

1. End Wests Tigers
3. Start new club - Ashfield Griffins or whatever the f**k we want to call ourselves, the Western Sydney Merkins for all I care. Same junior feeder clubs but with a new training ground, home ground etc.
4. Offer same contracts to players we want to keep. NRL can pay out the contracts of players we don't want to keep (not our problem, give the Wests Tigers a call...oh wait they don't exist)
5. Rebuild properly

Hello NRL?

It's the entity formally known as Wests Tigers here.

Just letting you know we are shutting up shop and want you to honour all our contracts for the next three years or so. It would be really good if you could perhaps settle up in lump sum payments to those concerned.

Oh, and by the way we are inviting ourselves to start a new entity in your competition from next year-the Ashfield Whatever's.

Do you think you could sling us a mil or 2 to help with marketing, and schedule our opening game to be at home against the Dogs?

From memory, wasn't there another club chasing Moses signature at the time we locked him in ? If so its more than likely true. Even if there wasn't another club the Wests Tigers probably paid overs... It's what they do / did !!!
I'd imagine that membership numbers next year will be the lowest they've been in quite a while... Surely no one is buying this crap. Who'd want to hand over their hard earned to support the circus ?

If Moses is on $400k then that will f**king do me.

Id believe it .. but if we have him for 5 years and he developes into a gun its cheap for a number 6 ... BUT if he doesnt we have a over paid player for 5 years . Not sure how we can avoid this ? A developed 6 on the market is easily worth double that. Only answer is to just buy year to year and get who ever we can afford and is on the market.

WT have had a terrible run wit these long term contracts. We think we are being smart and locking in 'up and coming' talent 'cheaply' but the WT track record aint good eg Blake Ayshford. Jury out on both Moses & Brooks but I have my doubts at this time.

They were both being chased by most NRL clubs, a lot of which would have thrown ridiculous amounts at them given their junior success and the importance of halves in the modern game.
$400k or whatever doesn't seem outlandish - just market forces at play.
Remember the Dogs are paying Lichaa over $300k, a deal that was signed with about 7 seconds of FG time under his belt.
Hodkinson just signed a $600-700k deal with Newcastle FFS. Halves (and other spine players) are expensive.
