Money from new owners still hasn’t arrived and players haven’t been paid. SL considering stepping back in if it’s not sorted in next few days.

feel for Paul Rowley, he’s a great coach but working in difficult situation. Salford were dreadful last night against a very under strengthed hull kr, bit hard to be motivated at work I suppose when you company isnt paying you!

Eh? This is all on Salford.

hopefully it’s just a bank transfer delay and the new owners are not charlatans.
No, it's not. The RFL and IMG ran this smokescreen crap about having everything on board and running smooth, then you have this complete and utter joke to start the season off. I mean, I doubt the English game cares because it's run worse than the local chook raffle down the pub.

No the RFL didn’t want to sanction anything till the money was flowing, but they were put under pressure to do so by Salford and the fans. They reluctantly lifted the cap on the belief the deal was done and the money was being paid imminently.
Damned if they do damned if they don’t by some so called fans!

What nonsense. Did you get this from a bloke down the coffee shop as well? Salford are doing a great injustice and it's an embarrassing look for everyone involved. RFL gullible for lifting a cap and believing liars.

And if they’d kept the cap in place and got hammered by 80 points in every game you’d be blaming the RFL for that as well and saying how they were letting g Salford and the game down.
Haters gunna hate.

No I'd question how IMG got duped by them fabricating stuff that they were silly enough to believe and lead into the current situation. Unpaid players/staff, belted each week, and the false dawn of cleared funds. Absolute joke.

The IMG assessment for grading was done in October last year. I agree it would be interesting to know what red flags werent spotted then, but how forensic the grading system financial assessment is is probably questionable. If you look at the club stateent in January they are layign a lot of the blame for their problems on the delayed stadium buy out. They claimed their revenue and cash flow forecasting was based on the stadium being sorted in November.
Salford finished 4th and had some good revenue from the playoffs so maybe in October the situation didnt look so dire?

Hopefully just a bank transfer delay!

The Rugby Football League have reimposed a sustainability cap of £1.2million on Salford Red Devils after their failure to pay players and staff for the month of February.

Love Rugby League revealed earlier on Tuesday how Salford had still yet to pay those at the club despite a takeover going through midway through last month.
They have only just come out of special measures limiting them to the players they can select to the value of £1.2million but now, ahead of Friday’s game at Castleford, those measures have been reimposed immediately.

Furthermore, the governing body have summoned Salford’s new ownership model to a meeting on Wednesday morning, when they must explain the latest financial difficulties facing the club.

In a statement, the RFL confirmed the measures.

They said: “The RFL Special Measures Committee have determined at their meeting earlier today that in addition to the existing restrictions on player movements in and out of Salford Red Devils that were already in place, the Sustainability Cap of £1.2m that was imposed on the club in February, and lifted ahead of their Betfred Super League Round Two fixture, will be reimposed immediately.

“In addition, Salford Red Devils have been asked to update and explain to the RFL’s Special Measures Committee and representatives from Rugby League Commercial at a meeting on Wednesday morning the current position regarding non-payment of staff, and how this will be rectified as well as a wider update on the club’s financial sustainability.”

The Red Devils themselves posted a statement saying: “This is due to the delay of funding following the takeover with funds currently pending regulatory clearance. CEO Chris Irwin and the new ownership will meet with the Special Measures Committee and RL Commercial tomorrow morning.

“To our fans, we sincerely apologise, we know this is not an easy time to be a Salford Reds fan.
“We apologise to you on behalf of our new ownership who have assured the club that the consortium is working to rectify the financial situation and there will be no further issues. Thank you for your patience and support.”

A stint in the championship will do Salford wonders

Like Wakey hull kr

Instead of spending money they don’t have trying to avoid relegation they can focus on the off field stuff then relaunch in super league a few years down the track

I didn’t say that

I said clubs who were exempt from relegation would find it easier to secure long term investment

Salford potentially should be bigger than both Wakey and hull kr

So you want Salford relegated, but you think clubs should be exempt from relegation to attract investors? Which is it?

I didn’t say I wanted them relegated

But relegation will help them than being in super league

If I had to pick I would make all clubs get 3 years exemption from relegation and promote and relegate based on an average over 3 years

Pretty sure you did lol

It wont help them, if according to you, the investors walk away as they dont want to take on a relegated club.

Salford need to clear the decks

They are an embarrassment to super league as are the giants

Bradford in super league would average what the giants and Salford do combined
