How the hell have you brought Phillips into it now lol? Perrett is nowhere near Minichiello in his prime (which he was at 23).

You might aswell turn up tomorrow and suck Perrett dry

He's solid as a rock but not in the top echelon of fullbacks in the game
But he never lets the chookies down and does his job admirably

Under-rated for sure.

Oh and speaking of Phillips, have another look at Phillips in the 2000 and 2002 grand finals and tell me one game Mini has played that comes close to either of Phillips' defensive efforts.

And show me ANY game Phillips and Perrett have EVER had that matches the game Minichiello had against Penrith in 2004 (which to Minichiello was just average.)

How the hell you have forgotten Minichiello (and the rest of NSW) defense in 2005 when they defended for 20 minutes straight is beyond me.

Minichiello in 2003 was the safest person under the high ball.

Minichiello in 2003 was probably top 3 cover defenders.

Minichiello in 2003 was our best attacking weapon.

Minichiello at 23 (in 2003) played his FIRST season at fullback and made the NSW and Australian team - at his first crack.

It's time you gave up.

Minichiello in 2003 was the best there was.

Phillips is relevant because like Perrett he more grit than flash and never won a gold boot either. Seriously watch those two grand finals and compare them to Mini's 03/04 grand final efforts and understand that just because Mini won a golden boot doesn't neccessarily make him a better fullback.

Minichiello in 2003 was the best there was.
Not good enough to win a premiership.

You say it like I already haven't watched all of those grand finals. I was there when Diamond single HANDEDLY kept the Bronco's to ZERO on good friday in 2000, so don't tell me to go back and wacth games.

You say it like I don't acknowledge Diamond's (selected in my Easts team of the 2000's) or Perrett's (Perrett defender numero uno) contributions.

But to say Perrett is better because he can defend is bullsh*t and you're typing with your elbow.

You make it seem like Minichiello was a powderpuff.

Like I said, clearly, you have forgotten just how good Minichiello was.

I know how good Mini is and was as an attacker, and I don't think he is a powerpuff either. BUT there have been a few games where he has seemingly taken the easy option of slapping at the ball instead of putting his body on the line. That is something I never saw with Diamond and am yet to see with Perrett.

And talking of same age comparison, remember Mini the Moth under the high ball? and his wonderful defensive combination with Ryan Cross? Mini didn't blossom until he had an extended period at fullback. Two years ago Perrett was heading along the same path until he got dicked back to wing and centre. Unfortunately we will not see the best of Perrett until Mini retires.
