Too many Warriors in the Samoa team for them to be successful over 80 minutes

Who would have predicted that the opening 20mins. What a fantastic result for Fiji, and a great occasion for Samoa.

Wonder what Semi and Hayne would be thinking?

Fiji prove themselves to be the Pacific overachievers again. Samoa with the far more NRL experienced side just couldn't put it together.

Pacific Cup needs to be played annually, with home games rather than all hosted in Parra.

The PMXIII concept needs to be expanded so that Aus and NZ between them visit the islands during the NRL finals.

Yeah I think you make it four island countries (PNG, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji) with the comp held in one of the countries for three weeks or four weeks if you want a final.

I made the comment about 'too many Warriors' in jest, but there's a bit of truth there- Maumalo, Gavet, Lisone, Afoa, Clark, Lino. Former Warriors in RFM and Godinet. There was something very Warriors about that performance. Huge opening 20 minutes and then let the opposition back into the game. Made frustrating errors in key moments. Cappy may as well have been coaching the bloody team.

I kinda called it earlier, Samoa always look stronger on paper than what they deliver. Great game, good crowd and just an all around good day for league. I can't help but feel like more regular matches like this would encourage more NRL players to get involved with 2nd tier nations.

Hopefully it rates decently and more importantly we see more of these matches in the future.

And more importantly, grows the local comp to develop more homegrown talent

Very surprised with the outcome. Well done to Fiji with the victory and Samoa for their inaugural test.
Would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with the turn out. But, from little things, big things grow I guess...
Hopefully the NRL persist, and the IRL pull their fingers out of their arses. But sooner pigs will fly...

He was there as International Federation rep.

Why is it being referred to as Samoa's first game at home? They held the 1988 Pacific Cup in Apia.
