When it comes to the Samoan and Tongan rugby league teams one thing is certain.......the half backs in both teams will weigh 118kgs and over.

Fui Fui is Tongan again? Kite & Tupou must think they are not likely to play for Aust again.
A lot of NZ depth has just disappeared now.

Lets hope these guys stick to these selections, and the Nations play enough footy to encourage this a viable choice.

in the city &country teams for next sundays game theres feleti mateo, andrew fafita, michael jennings, tony williams & willie mason who could all play for tonga in the world cup

as well as hayne, uate & sims for fiji...and james mcmanus for scotland...and Jorge Taufua for samoa

that alone highlights exactly why players should be allowed to play origin & for another nations...theres 10 players there!!!....cos aside from hayne and maybe uate the rest of the players are'nt going to play for australia.

So your saying a bunch of Aussies playing in Australian rep teams is a problem?
If they are willing to put an Australian state over another country then they don't deserve to play for that other country. Why should they be allowed to have their cake and eat it too! They should make a choice and stick with it, especially when the rep teams are playing on the same weekend!

So Konrad hurrell, the only player in the nrl raised in tonga, wasn't picked?

And 90% of those you listed are Australian born.

The RLIF needs to make it clear whether the RLWC is under 'free for all' rules, then ok they can play if not selected by Aust. Otherwise they need to pick a country and stick to it.

Once again, I have no issues with anything mentioned above.
All I want is test matches every year.
A 2 year stand down period if you want to swap nations.
Done.

The key is not to have to put state over country or whatever. Country level is country level. They choose to play for Australia, Tonga, New Zealand whatever but only countries. State rep level is solely ARL territory and has nothing to do with the International game. It's the same as forcing NZers that played for NSW or QLD pre-Origin times to play for Australia. You can be Tongan and play your first grade game in NSW, it's got nothing to do with being Australian.

Fui Fui is Tongan again?

He was born there. He didn't give up his nationality just because he played footy for New Zealand.

hutch......pal........mate.........buddy

i agree in principle with the point you've made....but look at the bigger picture! they'll get more money for a city v country game than a tonga v samoa game
