Satts for early retirement?

In today's RLW Satts concedes he is playing in pain with a chronic knee injury that may prevent him from playing next year (although at this stage he still plans to go on)!

However - it is a case of no cartilage and bone-on-bone - and he admits it is a week to week proposition!!

In better news - the Tigers are set to offer Benji a major contract upgrade on the proviso he extends his contract past 2005!! His manager says Benji is happy here and is mindful of the influence of Sheensy as he develops - but I want to see pen to paper soon!!!

(Also good to see Benji on the cover again for the second time this season)!

I like Satts a lot and think he's been a great influence on the team this year.

But I won't be too upset if he takes an early retirement - making room for some younger players next year.

I would like to see both him and Dazza offered a chance to stay with the club in some capacity when they do retire though as I think they will still have a lot to offer the young guns.

I agree about the off-field role for both boys!!

Both are excellent trainers - and would bring that worh ethic to any conditioning role!!

.

If Satts does retire at the end of this season, he won't stay in Sydney that's for sure.

Some of us Penrith fans went to watch Satts play at Campbeltown against the
Raiders a couple of weeks ago, and we had a long chat to him after the match.

We asked him if he would still be going home to Queensland for sure after he retires,
and he said yes. That is where both his and Angela's families are. They have no interest
in staying in Sydney.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him in some sort of coaching capacity at the
Gold Coast club if they win their bid to enter the competition.

That would be a shame if Scott did have to forfeit the last year of his contract, its so obvious to see the impact he's made to the side this season. Still one mans loss will be anothers gain.

if he were to retire,i also wouldn't be too dissapointed.
i feel next year our younger brigade will be ready to take that spot.

i would get him up with the boys at runaway bay,who are struggling with not only talent, but enough players.

Satts really has offered a heap to the side already this year more so off the field than on!

He has helped the young guys coming through but not just that he has also helped to change the image that many people had of the Wests Tigers through his media commitments.

If he does cut his contract short it will be a shame to loose such a person amongst our ranks and it would be great to see him like Butts and Dazza to stay around the club and offer their wealth of knowledge

On Benji I think it had to happen sooner rather than later because everyone knows how good this kid is already and how good he could very well be!
