if you are going to take it to a town that is too small for more than one team at least take it to a town that is an NRL frontier town. Like Melbourne who, unlike Brisbane, might actually be capable of having a second NRL team within the next 15 years.
And play the game in quarters.

As a Brisbane resident I'm pleased that I can go but understand the likely backlash.

Crowds in Auckland are well down this year, wonder why? Weather looks perfect.

Given the event is privately owned I would assume it will be up to the promoter to decide where the event will go and that decision will be about where he can make the most money.

id imagine most clubs not fielding teams anywhere near full strength
to get 30K both days
to essentially watch a QLD & NSW cup tournament is pretty ok id of thought

This and the novelty has simply worn off. Rotate the tournament through 5-6 different cities, that should keep it fresh.

Spread it around to anywhere that is willing to pay and has a decent stadium.

Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth. Taking it abroad now and then to somewhere like Japan or Hawaii would be mint IMO.

Imo the issue is that Auckland is a one team area. Moving it to Brisbane would arguably produce the same results - only turning up for Broncos games.

Moving to Sydney you'd have a proverbial melting pot of teams and fans, not to mention a larger stadium for increased revenue.

I have a better chance of scoring a root with Jessica Chastain than Melbourne getting a second NRL side...

BUT...

Just tour it. Auckland did well for the first couple of years, keeping it fresh is the answer.

Yes. I'm in favour of this. The should move the boutique games/tournaments (Nines, All Stars) every year kind of like what Super LEague did with MAgic Weekend or the Challenge Cup final

One of the big advantages was the cooler weather in NZ.

Imagine the f**kwit coaches and CEOs whinging if it's played in 30 degree plus weather in Brisbane, or Sydney for that matter.

The beginning of the end of the whole thing I'd say.

I think Sydney would be better. Brisbane would still do better than Auckland for the non local teams.
But any time in Feb is either going to be very wet or very hot in Brisbane.

It's meant to be 38 degrees in Sydney today. Just a stupid time of year to be playing daytime football of any kind

They could play into the evening but it would still be high 20s/low 30s
