SBW doesn't need soap!

It could well just be me, but I wouldn't actively want SBW at my club (the Broncos) all that much, depending on how much coin he would want.

Yes, he is talented and can be an "x-factor" in games. He has proven that in the past, but never consistently... for all the hype that surrounds him he really hasn't had many more than a handful of really good games. Good opposition knows exactly how to shut him down (recent example - against the Broncos a few weeks back) and his injury concerns make him someone I wouldn't actively want my club throwing big dollars at.

Because Schif gave him a bath today with his first try to show him up as the overrated "superstar" he thinks he is.:D

It's obvious SBW believes his own press and hype and has let it go to his head because since his return from injury, he thinks he is Superman with all the miracle passes he tries to throw and his low percentage shoulder charges.

SBW has a lot of talent but until he settles down and plays a more natural game, his critics (like me) will have a field day.;-)

PS, note to SBW, if you let the other players know what you are trying to do, your flick passes wont go into touch and round the corner no-looks may come off once in a while.

Wow...dont hold back will you... :sarcasm:

I really can't work you out.

You're there on one hand trying to create more interest in the Bulldogs forum and trying to attract more Bulldogs supporters to the forum, but then you just drag the site down by being petulant and trying to sh*t stir.

Saying that you just wait for SBW to play a sh*t game and pounce on him really is quite sad in my view.

You give no logical reason for being a critic of SBW other than the fact that you are clearly jealous of his talent, and jealous that he's playing for the Bulldogs, not the Raiders.

Last time you made a comment similar to this, my subsequent comments were quite extreme, for which I apologised. But if you continue in this fashion you really are asking for whatever comes your way with regards to a response.

I call it as I see it and to be frank, I think he is overrated at present.

Yes, he is a prodigious talent but he is caught up in in his own hype and since returning from injury this year, has been well below his best.

Against the Sharks, he was awful and stupid with his overly agressive play almost costing his team victory. Against us, he was again poor in several areas, not least of which was ball control.

Sure, I'd love to have a player of his natural ability at the Raiders, who wouldn't, but it's my personal belief he is not all that the media make him out to be and his aura of invincibility has vanished.

Even your captain had a dig at him a few weeks back saying it was time he got back into the forwards because he was ineffective in the centres.

BTW Rammo, let's not go through this dragging the site down crap again. I am my own person and I've never hid behind my admin status to win an argument and won't be starting now.

I am just another member with my own views on these forums and my opinions don't represent the site as a whole, same with Willow, Ozbash, El Diablo, Starkers and AliN.

Hell, Ozbash and myself and Willow and myself have had some monumental stoushes about footy over the years and at the end of the day, it's the internet and we always leave it at the door when we turn off the lights.

Food for thought mate...

Did you see his game against Newcastle?

He was quite formidable. One thing I will say is that when we have our origin players missing, as was the case yesterday, a point that most Raiders fans seem to miss, he tries to force the issue too much with pushing the pass.

Still, he wasn't the main offender yesterday, Hazem had a shocker, it has to be said.

He may be slightly overrated in the media but he's still a tremendous player. He's still a fair way off his best at the moment.

By the way, it wasn't the captain, it was Mason. Mason will say anything if the moment is right for it, he didn't care to offer an alternative solution in the centre position if Sonny Bill was to move into the forwards.

One thing I will say, while we lost yesterday, we have a chance of winning the premiership.

Anyone with half a brain will tell you that Canberra have no chance.

Sure, it's great that Canberra can knock off any team if they don't turn up to play, but how about having a complete cleanout and building towards a premiership in future?

I don't think a 36 year old who smokes a pack a day is the answer.

Yeah fair enough, my honest opinion, you do sh*t me sometimes :)

But I guess you're quite passionate with your views and I don't want a repeat of what happened a few weeks ago.

The arguments are good fun though :)

The problem is, how do you put such an awesome talent in front of:

Roy Asotasi
Willie Mason
Mark O'Meley
Andrew Ryan?

His only option to replace anyone is Reni, and the boy is on fire at the moment.

When did I ever say SBW had not talent and yes it was Mason but IMO he is more the leader of the team than Ryan will ever be.

Canberra have overachieved this year IMO as almost everyone had them as wooden spooners and without Smith they have won their last three matches so your criticism there holds no water.

Canberra have one of the bigger forward packs and are one win behind the Dogs and although we have no chance in your eyes, we are a team on the up.

If we continue to play to our ability, who knows, we might make the top eight but no team will take us lightly for the remainder of the year as the Dogs did for the a good portion of yeterdays game.

I thought Maitua was by far and away the Dogs best player yesterday and is a lot bigger than I first thought. Him and Utai carried the Dogs big time and if not for them, it could have been anything.

I also thought McIlwain had a strong game as well.

True.

I won't argue, it was a great effort considering the early injuries they suffered.

They are overachieving but doesn't that disgruntle you at all? Given that they're overachieving but battling to make the eight.

I think maybe a cleanout of their playing roster and a build to the future, rather than scrapping around for wins every year and settling for nothing more than a top eight position.

why the hell would we want to clean out our playing roster? (except for a few exceptions, but what club doesn't have players they want to get rid of?!) we've got some of the best young forwards coming through (Learoyd Lahrs, Weyman, Thurling, Tilse) along with a young halfback who is finally beginning to play to his ability in first grade (Carney) and of course a captain in Shifcofske who is argubaly extremely unlucky to not have been a regular representative player over the last few seasons. that IS building for the future.

the only reason we have "overachieved" is because idiots like you who have no idea about our team pick us for the wooden spoon every year. that comment about smith only proved how little clue you have, smith hasn't played for weeks and we've just won 3 in a row!

Agree with you 110%. One of my biggest gripes is we went from the dominant club in the NRL to one of the least respected due to poor management decisions.

I think at the moment the team needs to play to their strengths which is a simplistic game plan but they are starting to open up the scoring more than the past two years which is a good sign.

We are seventh in points scored (295) but our defence in two games (Newcastle and Roosters) has blown out our against which IMO will be crucial come finals time.

Last year Canberra averaged a miserable 19.38 points per game in attack, worst in the NRL so there has been a huge improvement this year (22.69).

Still a long way to go and with most of our players due back from injury, I am confident we can have a very good second half of the season.
