why the hell would we want to clean out our playing roster? (except for a few exceptions, but what club doesn't have players they want to get rid of?!) we've got some of the best young forwards coming through (Learoyd Lahrs, Weyman, Thurling, Tilse) along with a young halfback who is finally beginning to play to his ability in first grade (Carney) and of course a captain in Shifcofske who is argubaly extremely unlucky to not have been a regular representative player over the last few seasons. that IS building for the future.

the only reason we have "overachieved" is because idiots like you who have no idea about our team pick us for the wooden spoon every year.

I actually tipped Penrith for the spoon.

I would and have never tipped Canberra for the spoon because I realise that they have a nak of nagging a few upsets here and there.

Fair enough, Smith has been absent and you have won games but he's still your main man and he's getting on in age.

McIlwain earned another shot next week and was surprisingly good enough to boot Morrin from the lineup. Utai is awesome and wouldn't be out of place in the second row or lock with the uptake he made yesterday. I was impressed by little Kouparitsas too.

I agree Utai would be good in a few different positions, but his best on the wing because of his kick returns. He makes breaks every game from his kick returns, if he had a bit more support we would score alot more tries.

smith will be gone next year. he could have been rushed back into the squad 2 weeks ago but they were in no hurry to bring him back. last year, yes he was our main man, but this year he is out injured and we aren't even missing him.

Raiders fans rated Todd Carney alongside Benji Marshall early last season.

Spose it is Sonny Bill's turn.

Benji's another injury-prone player, time will tell whether he's going to be as consistantly brilliant as most people expected 12 months back.

Benji and SBW are going fine. When they are fit they tend to win competitions...

Funny, ive had a look and i can see "2004 - Bulldogs", "2005 - Tigers" under premierships

but no signs of a "2004 - SBW" or "2004 - Benji"

I'm pretty sure if you asked them they'd tell you they've each won a premiership before.

we havnt over acheieved at all
give the talent of our squad, we have been under acheiving for years, including 2006.

Rammo, your uneducated opinion of canberra cracks me up, you dont have a clue mate but continue reading the sydney media, they of course know all there is to know about canberra
Not to mention the posts that mysteriously disappeared from our forum where he totally disregarded the players we had out for the game (Thommo, TLL and Miller).

indeed, but they dont win them, their teams does
infact neither were even MOTM in their respective games, so it could be argued that if any one individual won premierships it was Scott Prince and Willie Mason

No, they do win them. To say each player wasn't a dominant force in each team's premiership is ignorant.

There is no implication they won them alone or were the best player. I'm assuming you've taken there to be because you feel like a bit of sport. Eddie's simply noting that they have the ability to help a team win a premiership. The same cannot be said about Todd Carney at this stage.

So you were being a smartarse I take it?

BTW I'm not saying he isn't capable. I'm saying he hasn't proven it yet. The aforementioned have. It's ludicrous to put him in the same company. as Marshal and Williams who've got runs on the board.

Probably like me comparing Farah to Buderus

i agree, not in their company of consistency but hypothetically, based on his form recent, Todd Carney would be instrumental if we were to go on and win the grand final (im not suggesting we will win it either, just hypothetical)

I don't think in their class fullstop at PRESENT. I think they have a year on him though.

Either way, the point is the breach in class (at present) between the 3 which I think you'll concede isn't remedied by Williams and Marshall's injury woes. The 2 are still better player. Surely you admit that?

i have never denied it, both are ahead of him at this stage, no arguements, will todd ever get to their level? who knows? Im betting firmly with green googles on, yes... but time will tell

all i said was SBW was utter tripe yesterday, one of the worst solo performances of the year IMO...
