SBW not wanted at Sharks

After seeing SBW get injured again today, that was enough for me, the club should not seriously chase SBW, he seems to be a player who just gets injured and for the outlay, for this one player, and serious time away from the game will hurt more then normal, would suggest he will command $400-$450k, a lot of cap money for a player who misses 7-10 games a year.

What we should do though is bid for him just to push asking price up for the team that signs him, make them use up more money then they wish

Big name player, on big money and often injured.

He belongs at the Dragons, if anything...

He's only young and has plenty of football in him. A troublesome ankle is hardly a career ending injury. I would baulk at his asking price because I don't think such a highly paid player is good for team morale.

I don't think you guys will get a chance to sign him anyhow, it should all be a done deal soon.

Now Willie Mason is a player I see your team would be after, just depends if he wants the money or to go with his mates over at the Roosters.

I reckon Matt King or Jamaal Lolesi would be smart buys for the club. Linking in with Vagana would be ideal. Ultimately Mason is the man who we should be after.

I disagree entirely. Sonny Bill would be a great buy for anywhere up to 500k a year. The dogs are about to sign him for 350k, they are very lucky to have him.

What, do a Brian Smith and buy him back after he has learned how to play footy somewhere else?

this is a gee up rite?

our best 3 playas over the last 3 or 4 years have been stevo, noddy and peachy

how many games have they missed

all players get injurd, it's the nature of a high impact fast collison sport and sbw is so heavily marked he bound to pick some up

Although I've been saying we should go after Willie,
and we still should.
SBW is a young player on the way up, he should be 1st priority.
If we miss Sonny we should go full on to sign Mason or Bailey.
I don't want to see us miss out again this year.

SBW hasnt even played 2 full seasons and how many times does he get injured, now remeber he will be wanting $400k-$500k, a big risk on a player who is still a kid.

That amount of money, injures following him, would rather we risk not buying him, and going for Mason, and another first grader

Would you say the same about Dykesy?

well no, because he was class when he left. to do a brian smith, is to buy back a player that has learnt to play good footy elsewhere. I think thats what shark means

I take your point Warren. But a question for Shark. Would you still say no to Matt King as he is only in his early 20's and is in red hot form? Who currently would sh!t all over Goldy

As much as I would be keen to see players of SBW in Sharkies colours, we need to get a bit strategic about our shopping list.
Where are we weak?
Centre - McGoldrick
So someone like King is a good option.
Where are we ageing?
The props- Even with zimmer frames Stevo & nuts carve 'em up, but for how long?
I really think if we are going to outlay big bucks it should be to fill these positions. Therefore there are only two ways we can justify his purchase.

1 - We have backrowers coming off contracts we don't intend to renew and allocate their pay packets to buying a new prop (or 2) or centre or both.

2- We intend to play SBW at centre in the same way we used to use McKenna and like we do now with Mellor
