Sonny Bill Williams has today re-signed with the Canterbury Bulldogs until the end of the 2007 season.

It's a huge boost ahead of Friday night's crunch game with the Sydney Roosters after months of speculation regarding his future. Williams has also been sidelined recently with an ankle injury and a case of the mumps.

But the 19-year-old wonder-kid signed on today with the club saying, "I have always insisted I wanted to stay at Canterbury, it was just a matter of time".

CEO Malcolm Noad went on record with the following comments:

"It's taken a long time but anything worthwhile doesn't come easily. It's a tremendous thrill for the club that Sonny Bill has agreed to stay. Sonny Bill is the third of our players off contract that we have signed to extended contracts. Now we have got to balance the budget going forward, at least now we know what the budget is."

A foxsports news update rumoured it to be worth 800K. So around about $400,000 a season.

IMO great news for the Buldogs and Rugby League.

Well there you go!

Gives all the other teams an advantage seeing that the prodigal son will be on the sidelines for most the season nursing one of the many injuries that is set to plague him in his career.

Wooooo! Get some mut up ya!

may not mean much to you but the bloke is the most loved Raider in a very long time and would probably be in the top 5 most popular Raiders players of all time

All great players, most probably better at their job than schif, but make no mistake, Schif is just as popular with the Raider faithful as every one of them :)

He said the contract should be signed before the weekend, which is great, the passion he visably shows for canberra and the fans is unlike any other player ive seen, prime example was the souths game when he scored the match sealer and against the roosters when he scored also

Just a question sully... If Josh Sullivan left the Sharks for, lets say, the Dragons or the Roosters.
Would you follow the club that Josh went to as well as the Sharks, ditch the Sharks altogether or ditch Josh?

The 2 year deal is win-win. We get the hottest young player in recent times for two years, and if he ends up being long term injury prone, we don't have to pay him for as long.
Must say that I like the way he presents himself on camera. A humble and genuine young bloke. He also said on the news that he was against people like him being selected for SOO. Two thumbs up for that one. :thumn :thumn

Great news for Rugby League and the Canterbury Bulldogs club who secure his services for another 2 years. Last night I tuned into 'Hey, Hey it's Thurday' as it was advertised that SBW was going to be interviewed, I must say, I was none disappointed once more by the teenager.

Apart from being the most talented youngester in Rugby League, he is without doubt one of the most talented off-field as well. In the Weidler interview he came across very humble whilst once more showing his love for his family. Apart from being one loyal to those who stick by him and help him, what impressed me was the way he handled the question about the Eddie Jones comments. A very level headed young footballer.

Look forward to seeing SBW return to the field in the coming weeks.
