Half-time at Carrara Stadium Gold Coast in the Ozemail Challenge Trial Match featuring the Parramatta Eels and New Zealand Warriors...
So far, with Temperatures up to 42 degrees and currently still very warm and humid - League fans brave enough to attend the game have witnessed what could only be classed as a fairly sloppy first half by the 2 sides standards. But given the heat, such play is to be expected especially at this time of year.
2 of the Eels new buys in 2004, namely Craig Stapleton and Corey Pearson have been menacing and are showing themselves to be worthy opposition for the Warriors. Luke Burts kicking boot may not be on properly after landing 1 from 4 attempts, although all shots have been from out wide and have only narrowly missed.
Adam Dykes, playing at Halfback, is looking the goods with some clever ballwork and great support play to set-up the Grothe Try and managed to grab a try himself.
Matt Petersen had a minor brain explosion after tackling a Warriors player who was not in possession of the ball at the time. A bomb was put up by Dykes and the ball was apparently still 10 feet in the air and Petersen let rip with a driving tackle (Goldberg style) which in turn, earned a penalty for the New Zealanders...
The Eels look to be more dominant but in saying that, all of the Warriors tries have come as a result of lapses by the Eels.
Wagon went down with what appears to be knock to head but it was nothing serious as he was back up and playing shortly after.
