IMO it will be Scott Prince who was awesome last series answering all questions of him in the elite company. For game 1 at least, he should be given first opportunity given he is the incumbent and he has been in good form despite being in a struggling team.

I feel he is the half most suited to play inside Lockyer as Thurston is more of an 'individualist' he wants the ball in his hands dominating the attack. For this reason, I think Prince (as he proved last season) is a perfect foil for Lockyer.

I would not count out Brett Seymour in this selection battle either given he is partnering Lockyer week in week out handling himself brilliantly. In the halves, combinations are on most occasions preferred...I don't think Seymour will be a game 1 option, though if we lose the opening game, Hagan may look for the successful Brisbane combination.

ppl i think it will come down to defence and in that department thurston has prince covered by a mile

how many times has he saved the cows asses by being there for the chip kick or running down the breakaway winger

he seems to read the game better

and i would like to see thurston playing with the big guns in origin just think of the havoc him locky and bowen could cause

and to quote the qld coach when talking about thurston and bowen
"they are the most dangerous attacking pair in the game . you cant coach against them "
now why wouldn't the coach want that in his team if he thinks he cant coach against them he sure would think sticky cant do it either (just look at the roosters game )

Are Queensland going to name an emerging squad again this year and bring them together to get them used to the feel of an Origin camp??

Cause I wouldn't mind if someone like Tim Smith is brought into that even at this stage, but I can't see him playing.

On Tim Smith he has had some good games especially against fellow Queenslander's he outplayed Prince twice and Thurston.

Seymour got him but then again Brisbane killed Parra so it was impossible for Smith to get a chance.

Even if Seymour, Thurston and Prince are all unavaliable for an Origin this year. I'd put money on Langer coming back before Smith gets called into the side.

It's just too early for him. However as far as QLD's 2006 halfback goes: Tim Smith

Give it to Prince to start with for game 1 (and still pick thursty on the bench). If Prince fails to show much in Game 1, bring Thurston into the side for Game 2.

Give Prince the chance to shine in a good team like Thurston does every week. If he cant do it then then fine, theres no reason not to pick Thursty

i am now a wests tigers man but i have to go for thurston. sure he has a bigger and more capable pack but he has also shown great organisational skills to go with it. sadly for us scotty has been down in the last 3 weeks, his kicking game has been poor, his running game has been underused and his general organisation has been a bit dissapointing to the point where young marshall seems to be taking over. scotty did a good job last season, but he didnt win qld the series, so i think it should be picked on form.

I think Prince will get handed the number 7 jumper, but Thurston should be picked on the bench, because he could be used as and impact player when the NSW forward are stuffed late in each half. Saying that Casey McGuire has been doing that job better then anyone for the broncos for the past 2 years and his form is better then it has ever been.

I think you'll find Wesser will be the fullback, thanks largely to the success of Bowen off the bench for the Maroons. So it'll either be Prince OR Thurston in the 17, not both.

As a blues fan I want Prince to play 1/2. :p Prince is very overated. Give Seymour or Thurston a go.

If prince does play for QLD, it will show what a joke the Tigers are.

1 SOO player
4 internationals
3rd last on the ladder

Bound to push the player payments up next year and maybe they will dump some players. Maybe the spoon in 2006. :D

Benji is a good player, no doubt about it, I think he is doing more for the Tigers than Prince, he is giving them more chances.

Will he be one of the greats?

I doubt it, more a good 1st grade footballer who gets picked for NZ because of lack a depth.

Kiwi, I am a Eels fan.

Oh ok, seems odd that a fan of a club that over the last decade can't even buy a premiership, choked the one time it made it to a grand final in that time, even with the talent that has passed through the club over the last 10 years, nadda, zilch, nothing, would hassle a Tigers fan about underachieving.

Prince is playing good football, he's not making mistakes or taking wrong options, infact i can think of one all season long against the eels. people assume he's playing poor because the Tigers are losing. Thats not the case, in the same way that one player doesnt win you a game, one doesnt lose you a game and rarely saves you from a loss.

Prince has shown me enough this season to warrant the chance again, my only issue is he the most deserving, because obviously Johnathan Thurston is playing great footy right now and does deserve a shot.

To be honest, i have confidence in both Prince and Thurston and will settle for whoever they pick really.

Yes Parramatta did go out and buy a heap of players, I gather your talking about the Bulldogs 4, Raper, Ritson.

They also went on a spending spree last year as well, but are those players of the same calibre as the Bulldogs 4?

Tell me why has the talent passed through the club? To keep within the salary cap?

Yes Parramatta have let some good players go, Ryan, Tonga, Lyon (dramas with Smith), Jason Cayless, Hodgeson (A Wests player who really made his mark at the eels), Mogg, ths list goes on.

The 2001 side that choked in the grand final, was that a brought side as you call it, or a team full of good young talent with a few players like Taylor who were at the end of thier playing days?

Still this year, if they are to make the 8 the next few weeks will tell if they are strong starters who choke, or a genuine side who can make the 8.

So I gather you dont think the Tigers are underachieving sitting down the bottom of the ladder?

On the defensive a bit there Snappy, trying to justify underachieving?

Yes I do think the Tigers have underachieved, but no more than the Eels, and when one considers talent for each club over the last 10 years, the Eels leave the Tigers for dead in terms of underachieving.
