Conflicting reports now.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_league/international_and_australian/6142442.stm

Great Britain's Sean Long has been sent home from the tour of Australia and New Zealand amid allegations that he broke a team alcohol ban on Sunday.

Long, who performed brilliantly during the victory against Australia in Sydney, is reported to have been asked to leave the squad immediately.

The squad arrived in Sydney on Sunday after the 34-4 loss to New Zealand.

Britain need to beat Australia in Brisbane on Saturday if they are to progress to the Tri-Nations final.

Actually Carl, GB will not only have a genuine halfback in Rob Burrow (Long is a 6 playing 7), but Burrow is also Danny McGuire's halves partner at Leeds.

He won't have been sacked for having a drink. It's obviously something reasonably serious. I f it was for drinking I'd suggest it was what he did while intoxicated. The gambling thing sounds possible but surely he's not that dumb? Is he?

I smell the start of a cover up.
GB Coach just on the news saying that he was right as rain and was merely being rested from training to get over some bumps and bruises.

Another one. LoL

Great Britain's hopes of reaching the Tri-Nations final have received a serious blow after Sean Long returned home "for personal reasons".

Saints half-back Long, one of the stand out players in the Super League this season, has been one of the pluses of a topsy-turvy campaign Down Under for the Lions.

And with Brian Noble's side needing to beat Australia to reach the final, Long's performance will have been crucial to their hopes of progressing.

However, Long has left the squad's training camp in Manly in Australia on Monday.

A statement released by the Great Britain team read: "The player Sean Long has left the Great Britain training camp based and has returned home to the UK for personal reasons.

"Sean Long took a flight from Sydney airport late this afternoon."

Coach Noble has opted not to call up a replacement for Long, with either Richard Horne or Rob Burrow set to replace him in the line-up.

*Edit - opinion below was based on false assumptions reported in the media *

Didn't learn his lessons from St Helens...

Big let-down, whether the allegations prove true or not, without Long's they're struggling for their (now most likely) final game.

LOL at noble... worst liar in the world!

Chris Anderson rivals him.
In 1999 he said the Oz team were doing ball work on the beach and Gower went down with a knee injury.
Translation...
Gower exposed himself to some gal at a pub in Coogee and was kicked out of the team

well there is not much locky can do, tbh if Long is gone i think GB will miss him, but unlike NZ, GB are a lil bit better when it comes to depth in the halves.
