If Teflon does end up going at seasons end, one quick solution for a 1/2 back whilst we develop some from within the club could be to get Mathew Head back. He is only on a 1 year contract with Saints, will still be only 28 years old next year, and has been unable to break into the main squad but has been somewhat of a regular on the interchange bench- more than Teflon ever gave him an opportunity with.

So, he may be going for a reasonable contract rate, his fitness has been further demonstrated, he is familiar with WT players (those that will be left) and he can provide stability and lead the team around the field whilst others are brought on. I'm sure he'd love to be able to give 'the bird' to Teflon & Simmons.........

Head may not be the long term solution but he can provide the stability for a couple of seasons whilst others are blooded with interchange time eg Josh Lewis / Wayde Dunley (if they stay).

Of course, if Teflon stays, no way would this suggestion even be considered.............

It would be good, I doubt it will ever happen.

I'd prefer to see Lewis and Dunley in the halves next season with Benji at fullback.

Now that imo is a greater idea

Two rookie halves in a team that desparately needs an experienced and reliable halfback is a good idea? FFS.......

I'd like to see Lewis and Dunley get a crack first before we look at Head.

I see Head and Dunley similar players. Both lefties...no ??

I suppose I'm thinking more of an experienced 'old head' to mentor Lewis and / or Dunley. The WT squad is generally young and I do think we miss a settling old hand that can manage things and keep them on track. We consistently fall prey to mentally falling apart, with rushed plays, mistakes and brain explosions.

Can't be any worse than an experienced Five eighth at halfback and an experienced hooker/utility benchie at five eighth.

I have no problem with that.

Is Moltzen not worth persisting with? It had a lot of promise last night, even though the opposition were ordinary, with this year gone, he will have pleanty of time to get it together?

Head hasn't really been given the chance since and he probably won't again. Sheens barely used him but I think it was very noticable that our attack went up a few notches when he was in the 7 for us last year. He won't be ousting the Saints halves any time soon though.

I liked what I saw from Moltzen and he should have the #7 jumper till the end of the season.

I'm happy with that combination till seasons end but I'd like to keep the option open of bidding for Head for next season 1/ if Teflon goes 2/ if the price is right.

I'm still worried about the aspects of WT falling apart mentally time and time again. They need an old hand to steady them, keep them on track and not rush things. If we maintain youth in the halves, where will the steadying come from? Farah plays too close to the action and we need someone who stands back a bit and can talk to the others - the backs are young and in the forwards the only ones I could suggest are Skando (if he keeps on playing into 2010 but I doubt it) or Ellis.

I've always said that that Moltzen is a halfback moreso than a 6. I'd also stick with him and see how he goes. If it doesn't work out we still have Dunley and Lewis.

Is anybody else worried by the continued openings Teflon and Simmons are giving to Marshall being shifted back to half in 2010?

They have wrecked WT 2009 season with this little indulgence- it has not worked and they are giving mixed signals again for next year. For crissakes, let the boys settle and play in the positions they are best in Marshall 5/8 and XXX for 1/2. Who the XXX is they can sort out with the remainder of this season- Moltzen probably, BUT not Marshall.

Maybe wayne cousins could send a pilot tv show to the networks. Sort of a reality TV concept where any Tom, Dick or John can wander on down to Camp Concord, murder some overlaps, kick out on the full, tackle the flying fox head high and audition for the role of WT No 7. It would sure as hell beat NRL summertime and maybe the club could set up some 1900 numbers for the members to vote who they want to play halfback. Sort of like Big Brother.

This would have the added bonus of Teflon being able to use the excuse (and by god he will) that when said halfback f**ks up it is the fault of us as `we voted for him'.

Perhaps it's best we don't give the great man any more ideas ..
