Ok here goes
Pirates: 1st
Coos Bay's finest are still undefeated, and primed, pumped, oiled and lubed for a full throttle assault on the title. Their one previous competition game, a spectacular victory over the Donovan Cup winning Sharks in round one of the aborted rleague competition in 2003, proved that the Pirates had what it took, but unfortunately their ambitions for 2003 were derailed by now infamous events outside of their control. While some of last years big name signings are not available, the squad still looks strong, with nibbletjones and half-man finally getting their chance to show what they can do over the course of the season, and with Thierry Henry having gained valuable experience in 2003. Lord Reynoldson is a huge signing- when he joined the Pirates a year ago he was a young up and comer, but now he is a grand-final winning veteran and one of the teams most accomplished players. Anastabation is another high-profile signing, while Lochie and Knightmare return from the 2003 squad. DJ1 and Canterbury have showed great promise pre-season and broncoman has previous involvement in 7s and is expected to be a prominent contributor. The Pirates, with the inspiration of Pre to guide them, will be hard to stop in 2004.
2nd: Roosters
It's hard to go past the defending champs. The signing of melon, one of the stars of 2002, makes them look even more intimidating, despite a few losses. The likes of Catatonic Omnivore, Big Poppa Pump, Morticia and Rooster Cogburn are also sure to turn in some interesting work, with old campaigners Ozzie and Penelope Pittstop the consistent contributors.
3rd: Newtown
The squad looks all quality despite the loss of gorilla. Brook, Willow, Legend and Chook are sure to turn in some excellent posts. The contributions of newer signings like Samwise and George Illa could be vital to their prospects of success.
4th: Penrith
Once again Big Mick has done an admirable job pulling together a squad which will no doubt compete to the best of its ability every week. The Panthers deserve their 4th ranking if only because they always give themselves a chance by being well organised and getting a full compliment of posters. Hopefully this continues throughout 2004, with Big Mick leading from the front and maelgwnau, Lewis, bedsy and Iddylion carrying on from 2003. They also have some exciting new talent in LeagueNut and BW#1F.
5th: South Sydney
If they really put it together they could finish even higher than this. Seano has assembled a talented looking squad and has retained top contributors like Terracesider, Bunny Boy, and Olympic Park. Dogs of War and Northwest Rabbit may also contribute well, and what of Robster?
6th: Sydney Lions
roosterboy60 has already set the standard as the youngest ever 7s captain, a record he will probably hold for years to come, but he has also done brilliantly to assemble a squad that could be play-off contenders. Zef, weasel, and Everlovin Antichrist should all do well.
7th: Rhinos
Once again ParraMatt has a useful looking squad at his disposal. The signing of Kiwi is a major coup. Infact, looking at his squad it's hard to pick out any weak links and if they put it together on the field and get a full compliment of posters they could trouble anyone. IF they put it together on the field, that is.
8th: Cronulla
Another squad packed with talent, but it's almost impossible to back Cronulla with any confidence given their track record of not fielding a full team. El Coconuto is one player sure to give his all and rack up some big scores, as is El Garbo. Beaver Online, Mr Angry, and Genius Freak should also perform strongly.
9th: Eels
One thing's for sure, they won't lose through lack of effort from DvDHntr. But does he have a committed squad? My guess is possibly not, but Colonel Eel, PARRA FAN and Louis Lambert, among others, have ability.
10th: Dragons
Hard to get a gauge on this new team. I don't have high hopes for them. Come on, prove me wrong.
