I realize that this season is in its infancy, however, there was talk that the 2022 squad is looking better than last years, do you agree?

Yes and no and sort of. Tago, May, Staines all look ready to have big years and Edwards is up another level as well. Hard to point to a position that isn't equal or improved due to more experience etc.

I agree to an extent but the 2nd row depth is a major concern.

If kiks goes down during origin when martins playing for the blues.. the only actual 2nd rowers who play there as there proper role at the whole club is chris smith and riki.. geyer is playing 2nd row atm and im sure has trained there but has played prop coming thru.

So essentially players are going to be playing out of position if that was to happen...

So i guess depth in certain spots this year is well down.. but up in others.

Swings and roundabouts i guess..

Winning a comp all comes down to luck with injuries. Its the most important facet. But still need the depth throughout the year.

I agree. I guess if desperate you move Tago to second row and play May inside To'o but you'd want to be desperate.

Yeah not ideal to move tago but its probably the only option if god forbid it got to that.

Really hoping the club can jag tariq for 2 years at a reasonable price..

Tariq and luai seemed to get a on like a house on fire during origin.

I actually like that idea. Two speeders is just mouth watering.

True but you'd probably want a specialist second rower with some experience.

I like this a lot>

As much as i think kiks can really be poor at times in defence... man at hes best in attack hes the best forward in the game.

Not as consistent as yeo... not as reliable..

Im just talking about at his best...

Every now and than he does things that for a 6 foot 5 bloke whose 120kgs just shouldnt be happening.

The little grubbers he does. Hes passing abilty...

I mean honestly that pass last nignt to tmay was all time.. he was at full speed, no look quick pass to his winger.

I expect that stuff from teddy, turbo, ponga... not kikau.

Many thought he might pull the pin this year..

Hes been really really good..

I think ive come to execpt the good with the bad with kiks.. i complain he gets tired and fatigued but i guess hes a 120kg player playing 80mins some weeks in a modern game which is faster than ever.

Api is going to be a huge loss...

Kiks i think is just as big..

For the most part our attack is structured around yeo and cleary..api offers great slight of hand and is crafty but largely hes running game over the last two years hasnt been as much because yeo and cleary just demand early ball..

All our attack on the left centres around kikau. He just attracts so much attention which gives so much space to the others.. throw in that he can put in the odd grubber and hes passing for a big man is incrdible...

Man hes going to be irreplaceable..

Im to young to remember mg at his best..

But i remember a few great 2nd rowers in my time...

Lewis (didnt play much for us there so wont count him)

Big t
Frank the tank
Waterhouse
Big joe.

Imo kiks is just behind big t.

I know thats a big call.. imo hes got more skill than the rest of them combined. Would never of seen big t or frank the tank doing no look passes and crafty kicks.

Big t and frank in there prime were stronger ball runners..

I dont know..its a tough call..

What i do know is WE WILL NOT be the same team without kiks..

Our whole attack is almost built around him.

He is going to be as sorely missed as api will be..

What he did for NSW was amazing but he hasn't played a good club game since the Cowboys maybe.
Many cheaper better options imo

The fact Robert Jennings is next centre up is an issue.
Sorensen being named in the 12 was slightly better atleast he is NRL standard

Left side defence looks weaker. We lack depth compared to last year. We have been very lucky playing against 12 men for 2 games. South's are ordinary won't make the 8. Our test will be Sharks, Roosters and Parramatta.

In my opinion, if you were to put together an ultimate Panthers team based on players that featured in our winning GF teams, I would have MG & Big T as our starting second row.

Kiks could jag a bench spot but would have competition in Cartwright (John).

Rj is the experienced option right now, if we had to plug a short term hole I’d use him, if we lost a centre for a season I’d throw rj in and give may a few weeks in cup in the centres then look to bring him in as the back up centre, he’s to good not to be above rj in the pecking order even at centre.

I could never take out Brandy from the 7, ultimately he is the reason why I supported the club.

He has had very limited time at centre. Mainly a winger and any meaningful centre time was several years ago.

That is the weakness if we have one. Edge depth
