Great idea to doctor the pitch by the poms, they took 10 wickets for the test.

I think MMarsh has done enough to end Watson's career.

Hads will be back according to Clarkey but he aint a selector so watch this space.

Ballance needs to go work on his technique, he's already way back in his crease before the ball is bowled, having guys throw them down at 150 clicks.. if you can't come forward you're going to be in for a hard time

From the outside, KP might have the on field talent, but off the field it's pretty clear he's a fracturing influence and that's the last thing England need IMO. Bell is atrocious. Root must bat 3, surely. I would have thought Robson was worth persisting with, and tbh even Carberry showed far more fight than Lyth even if he didn't get the runs. Ali is no number 8, either. If he is to bowl as the spinner, surely he can still bat 6 and run four quicks? Drop Bell, move Root up, Ali up to 6 or 7...he got a savage ball this innings but he's not a bad player.
Meh. Given what we've heard of Broad, Anderson, Swann, Prior, it's pretty obvious he wasn't the only problem.

They shouldn't have tossed him aside.

Wow, pretty feeble from England - series 1-1 after 2, just like the NZ one... :)

Test of character now, will be interesting, and some selection pressure too..

On that, does Haddin get back in when right?

Johnson discovered his mojo too - all the worrying signs for England now
I hope not. Nevill was generally much better (couple of average moments in the second innings, but generally strong, and looked a mile better with the bat). Sentiment shouldn't win over the best option here.

First time Marsh's bowling has looked threatening I think. I think he'll just for a while be a very short spurts bowler, see if he can grab a wicket and if not change it up again, but it's promising to see.

Great performance from Johnson as well.

Yeah I liked what I saw from Nevill, he should certainly be the first choice keeper but I am not confident the selectors will see it that way. I just see no upside whatsoever going back to a 37 year old keeper who has been in woeful form.

Johnson is the most entertaining cricketer in the world to watch when he is on song. Fingers crossed there's some grass on the Edgbaston pitch now that the Poms must win a game, because he was bowling better and better as the match progressed.

Haddin better not be back! Nevill did more in 1 test than Haddin did in 12 months.

Mitch Marsh is better than Watson period.

Did we invite the Pommy merkins in to the dressing room after the game????

Yep, invite them in and tell 'Jimmy' he can write another book, and get it on the record that they think he's the biggest merkin in world cricket.

They compared Cook to Clarke like well at least he put in. But what about the captaincy? What was Cook doing being so negative on day one of the test and it ending 337/1?

Cook might be in slightly better form with the bat but his negative captaincy was there for all to see. Trying to save a match on day 1? Really?

Lyth gets a 4. So his marking scale is really between 4 and 9, giving Jimmy and Davey's speed bag about 6ish out of 10. Still too much.

The poms caught the Aussies on the hop in the first test as they were under done, sure 4 first class matches before hand should of prepared them better but realistically when you go to the Carribean for two of them your more than likely in holiday mode.
The Poms being one up gauranteed every pitch would of likely been doctored to limit the Aussie bowlers, draws for the rest of the series with the assistance of rain would of been hoped for by the Ingurland powers to be to win the ashes.
It will be interesting to see the Poms tactics from here on,Bumble and Boycott even questioned what was the go with doctoring the wicket,i would suggest playing cricket rather than trying to manipulate a result.
