Yes I’m not doubting his ability but all the salary cap rorting and dirty play was a turn off for me. But nowhere near Smiths level for hatred.

I have supported my share of merkins.

I love Fifita and Gallen, and completely get why people hate them.

I disliked Ennis, and once he joined the Sharks I loved him (a Bulldogs fan who is a mate of mine said that would happen. He couldn't decide if he'd go back to hating Ennis or would still love him once he joined us...still hasn't decided).

I get that good players who break the rules are hated by other tribes and loved by their own.

But Slater is such a supremely talented player, he could have been regarded as one of the best and if not loved, at least admired by everyone.

I never loved Lockyer, but I loved watching him play, loved him in the game, and admire him as an all time great. It was a shame when he left league, as the game was poorer without him, and that is despite him destroying teams I support year after year. And it was such a shame the way his career ended.

With Slater, I hope he gets suspended and misses what would otherwise be his last game and last grand final. I believe other posters summed it up best.

Only RL can shoot itself in the foot like this. Should be the “fairytale”GF and instead we will likely see one of the greatest players of all time denied the chance on the games biggest stage for something that should never be a game ban offence. Sigh.

It doesn't matter if you believe that tackle should result in a ban or not. The current rules state it is an automatic week on the sidelines so i can't see what defence he has to work with.

Well the media masturbation and the Nrls selective favouritism, some players get penalised all the time for minor indescretions , others commit them every game and the whistle is absent.
