All the talk about this guy - I thought he deserves his own thread.

1.Do you rate or hate the crabman?

2.Do you think he will play much first grade this year?

3.Why does BA seem too like him so much? He must see something.

I will say I think Seph is better than most give him credit for on here.He I also a dual international. :D Im thinking his biggest problem is mixing up his game. He has the potential to be very good and a great attacking weapon. Just needs to run straight and hard more often. And limit the passing. His defense is a high workload-He doesn't hit hard but rarely misses tackles. Behind a dominant forward pack he plays his best football and for this reason im going too give him one more chance to shine this year.
He would be in my round one team.Im not sure why thou with everyone we have to pick from. I still think with a bit of work on his game he could shine and honestly think he doesn't deserve the slack he cops on here!

Happy birthday Seph.

Might start Round 1 as a bench option, but in the second half of the season (post-Origin) shouldn't really be sighted near a first grade jersey.

Though we're also still short in the halves this season, so any injury to Sandow or Norman might see Paulo get a start as a fill in #6?

Tbh I think his biggest issue is communication - if he tells his teammates to run off him, I bet we'd see more linebreaks from him.

Half the time he crabs across the field, there are gaps opening up, but nobody is backing him up.

He's a competent player.

When he crabs across field he is just settling the ball for the next play - where we want the ball to be, laterally. They know to run off him but on those settlers they are setting up for the next tackle.

Alright player probably kept him for less than what other clubs would be paying. 100 first grade games under his belt and he isn't an idiot off the field, good role model for the younger kids coming through.

True.

But on several instances, you see him crab across the field and create gaps, but nobody has the nous to take advantage of it. It's frustrating.

Agreed there should be support runners on every play, settler or not. That's where the whole sustained effort thing comes in, which Brad Arthur was talking about. This is also where the fittest, hardest working spine players show their value. Slater and Thurston can follow a runner on one play and then get back into position to take the first or second pass on the next play. Guys like Hayne and Sandow are rarely that involved two tackles in a row.

i don't mind seph. His game is better when he varies it up a bit and not just trying to do the ball playing but actually taking some hit ups swell and working hard around the ruck. He's a very good defender.

Having him as a back up player with 100 games experience is handy especially when other clubs like Raiders were throwing more money at him (reportedly)

I'm not discounting this - but I don't think this is always the case. Many times I think we are just disorganised and lazy ... so a combination of Sef dicking around and no f**ker bothering to run a line

The best smile in the NRL. Parras "Go to Guy" when that special (or any really) pic needs to be taken. Our media profile would disassemble should Seffa ever leave.

Would be very potent if the rest of the team either knew what he was doing or ran lines to support him.

Earlier in the season last year playing in the middle he was very dangerous and provided spark to our attack.
