For goodness sake, here we are with all this dribble when another nation is doing all it can with the help of its closest neighbour to set up a new Rugby League Federation, lets talk about that huh?. (history is history and it's their history)

Well done all round, and lets hope the game prospers everywhere in the region.

Hold your horses guys! Answer that you are looking for is Yes, they want to be recognized as a proper Federation, so Yes it will be Bosnian RL. Regional federation of Republic of Srpska, will also be established, but that is another topic. All of the guys over there in Serbian league clubs in Bosnia want Muslims and Croats to take part, to forge rivalry and to get more publicity of course. That is what this sport is all about, arch-rivals :) It is not like in Spain where Catalunya RL was basically separatist movement that wanted to be recognized internationally to undermine Spain. They never intended to be part of Spanish RL, or to try to develop the sport country wide.

All of the boys that took part are Serbs, but interest is big in Muslim union clubs. There is only one Serbian union club in Bosnia, all the rest are Croat and Muslims. In the 1980s Bosnia had a really developed union in region of the city of Zenica, their club was a champion of Yugoslavia 10 years in a row I think. Converting them will be difficult, but fingers crossed :)

Bosnian Rugby Union was registered before any club from Serbian entity established and no one saw nothing bad or complained about that. There is one Serbian RU club at the moment and is member of BHRU.

Now, to answer ECT's question: Serbs from Bosnia are keen to expand the game even in the area where Croats and Muslims live. They need to have three clubs joined in the sport governing body, whether in Republic of Srpska or Bosnia-Herzegovina. They will try to form RS RLF and than to form BH RLF. If they have 3 clubs, they can form BH RLF without Croats and Muslims.

The next step is admission in RLEF membership. Only Bosnia can be RLEF member and play international games, and Republic of Srpska could play regional international games (which are not full or matter of RLIF ranking) with permission of BH RFL. Serbs in Bosnia have an interest to form the both federations and to play at both levels: to represent RS and to gain international honours as BH. The both will be supported ny Serbian RL.

I hope, afetr Desiderio's and my post, ECT has cleaner picture of ongoings.

This is probably more pertinent on news about Serbia. They are doing great stuff with a 16's, 18's and now the military and police involved, with these wheels in motion I don't think it will be too long before we see tham as regulars in the WC.

The Serbs really are making fantastic progress. It's even more impressive when you take into account they have gone about their work without the benefit of a raft of heritage players to call upon. Their elevation to full RLIF membership is totally justified.

Been down to Srpska to play against the Rabbits in Banja Luka last weekend. The boys have a lot of enthusiasm primarily about playing Rugby League, not proving an ethnic point. I actually believe that RL Federation would probably work better than most Bosnia and Herzegovina institutions.

As always there are some ex RU clubs in the area that offer a base of players who might want to pick up an oval ball again..

The game has progressed very well very fast, and Serbian Federation is helping as much as it can.
