Steve Clark didn't get the job in the 1st Origin

instead Sean Hampstead will ref the game with Graheme West and (somehow) Steve Clark as the video refs.

Clark lost his chance at the Origin job in the 1st half of the Eels v Storm game.

Don't get me wrong Parra played terrible in the 2nd half and didn't deserve to win based on it but the 1st half they were scrwed by Clark more then a Whitehouse intern during Bill Clinton's administration.

Refrees job is a thankless task and i'd hate be one I truly believe that they need two refs on the field One for the 10 m and the other working the general play.

yes it is thankless but you would think they would be smart enough to know that when a ball crosses the line it is out (see: Thormans (non) 40/20)

or the difference between playing and not playing at a ball (see the lead up to one of Melbourne's 1st half tries)

but if I'm not wrong wasn't Clark in control of the Panthers v Tigers game where the Tigers were screwed out of a win because Clark ruled a Panthers player had not played at a ball when in fact he had

He had a shocker in the 1st half but if our team were any good they would've overcame it. Melbourne were not that flash and we still could not beat them.

The only time I ever complained About a ref was the Job that Harrigan did when Parra took on the knights now that was a disgrace.

it alays bugs me when a ref has a painfully bias first half (ie everything meblournes way) then "fixes it" in the second. (the penalty count finished even, 11-11)

still, its disgusting for a game to finish with 22 penalties all up! if he wanted that much attention he should have pulled on a jersey!!!

Refereeing is difficult and they will never get it all right....

BUT there are these 2 other guys running around with flags wearing the same gear that I think are supposed to help the ref out sometimes - I could be wrong about this tho - maybe the flag is just a short blind mans cane???

BINGO!!

The bagging of Steve Clark may be justified, he didnt have a good game.

However the major displays of inability to do the relatively simple jobs they are given came from the linesman.

There is too much bagging of referees and not nearly enough bagging of linesman.

The 40/20 kick, the carrying on with tackles when they weren't dominant, the knock-ons(or apparent knock backs?!?) and that last forward pass that gave Dykes his try............WHAT THE F*&K WERE THESE LINESMAN DOING!!!!

Am I uninformed as to what the linesmans jobs are?

Is it not their 1 and only job to watch and see if the initial pass from a tap is forward or not?

Is it unclear to some of them that if a ball crosses and/or touches the sideline, it is out!??! Or if they are unsure, we now have a vidoe referee in our game of rugby league!!

Clarke was awful.

The touchies were about as useful as a dick on a mule.

And we, not being in good enough form to overcome these setbacks, felt the sting.

BADLY.

I'm sure male mules probably find their appendages quite useful.

But back on touch judges....I think they are often useless, but I am sure it is also the case that the referee will make calls and ignore input from the touchies cos they don't want to look bad.

Lets face it - all the guys in the stripy tops suck!

Well bugger me....I wrote that thinking I was funny - I then thought, hmmm, maybe a mule is more than just a name for a donkey....so I looked it up:

mule
1. The sterile hybrid offspring of a male donkey and a female horse, characterized by long ears and a short mane.

 - you can tell I'm a city boy.

My good lady was talking about her new pair of mules the other day - took me ages to realise that she has spent $150 on shoes.

 - you can tell I'm not a SNAG
