I would of let him go, if players don't want to play for the Eels then show them the door, they aren't going to give %100 if they don't want to be here.

I wonder if Sandow had been the one to call the coach a f**kwit, would he be getting the same support here?

By the same token, do we really think Shack is the first player to call his coach a f**kwit? Maybe Kearney should do the professional thing and get over it? Heck, maybe he has, and we should too...

regardless on what anyone thinks of Kearney, it was a dumb move by Shack, I'm also happy that we've decided we're no longer a charity bin for any other NRL club looking at replenishing their stock..

I reckon we should of said to Manly give us mauro or Lussick and you can have Shack.

Agreed it was a stupid thing of Shack to do but surely SK has made his point now?

Continuing to pick Taniela Lasalo makes a mockery of any decision or point he's decided to make.

Can't say I agree with what Shack did, but can't say I disagree with what he said. Agree with Bazal and would have him in the team instead of Lasalo. And the whole piece about an edge running backrower doesnt stack up when we dont have any other edge running backrowers...Sure if Horo is fit and firing, have him instead, but I've been told he's been nonexistent for Wenty when he has played.

What, walk out on your team mates in a time of crisis?
Jump a sinking ship?
I'd love both you blokes in the trenches with me.

I might go and support Manly next week.

Suity

For us fans it`s a sinking ship and it`s a team and it`s mates and all that. To the players it`s their livelihood. If your boss was preventing you from getting promotion and earning money, would you stick around just for the sake of your workmates if you thought you could get a better deal at another workplace? Get real.

I cannot understand Lingard, after all one of our greatest ever players, John Simon walked out on the club in 99 to join the Warriors..

He wasn`t one of our greatest ever, but he was one of our best. And I`m defending Shackleton`s desire to leave the club, so I don`t understand your post at all.
And just to clarify the issue; I selected John Simon at five-eight and Brett Kenny in the centres, not because I think Simon was a better five-eight than Kenny - he wasn`t. If you select a best ever Parramatta Team you either take it position by position and select the best ever fullback, best ever wingers, etc, OR you select what you think is the best ever OVERALL team we could put on the paddock. I did the latter, so you figure out the rest. And for the record, although Kenny`s best position was five-eight, he was an exceptionally good centre.

I would have Shane Shackleton ahead of John Simon but that's about it.

If we sign lussick maybe manly will do an early swap later on.

But the bloke is a prop in our squad and not playing better than our other four props.

Plus his attitude sucks so f**k him

Why wouldn't we support him, if he'd made a correct call? :sarcasm:

And that`s another way of looking at it, isn`t it? What drives a person to call their boss a f**kwit in a public forum? Where there`s smoke there`s fire - or in this case; where there`s a disgruntled player there`s a f**kwit coach, maybe.

A controversial decision, I`m sure. Shacleton`s much too slow for five-eight.

I'm kind of on the fence about this one. He's doing well in NSW Cup and a few players that have impressed in that competition this season have stepped up and impressed; Paulo and Ryan the obvious mentions.
Should he have been in reserve grade in the first place? I don't think so but any player that comes out on a social network site and publicly abuses their own head coach may as well have written their own eulogy.

You mean you`re not even defnitely on the fence? I guess you can`t get much more undecided than that!

I can hardly remember your best ever team but given that you chose Kenny centre it meant that either Ella or Cronin didn't make your team, you lose all credibility right there...

I know I'm coming to this thread a little bit late in the piece, but it seems fairly obvious to me why he wasn't released:

Manly were going to sign him on a second tier contract, which would've meant we were on the hook for most of Shacks salary anyway.

What's the point in setting him free and either paying him, or if not paying him, still having him count against the cap....

If Manly wanted to pick up all of his alleged $170k salary, then that would put us in a position to make a move on a $170k player.
For Manly to sign him for less than $55k (second tier contracts are all by definition less than that amount) would leave us with the ability to do nothing if someone other player wanted to join us (since first grade contracts are $55k or over).
