Shane Watson and the tap on the shoulder?

I honestly can't believe he's in the team still, it bewilders me every time and then I think to myself.. mm maybe his bowling is handy at times but with Mitch Marsh in the side batting better than him and probably a better bowler as well I just can't justify him being in the team

Even if you ignore the fact that he's an all-rounder and look at him as a batting selection he is so wildly inconsistent it's not even funny, I would love to see what he averages in the first innings of games when we actually need him to stand up and do something as opposed to the 2nd innings when we are well ahead of the game and he chimes in with a quick fire 70

I just can't see why or how he is still in that team, for what it's worth you may as well chuck in someone like Shaun Marsh who is a risk in the field but I rate him much higher in the pecking order when compared to Watson as a batsman

Thank our lucky stars Warner and Smith have stepped up in the last 12-18 months.

But we do need a solid no3, and another opener Rogers wont play on for much longer I don't think or will get dropped. Is Cowan worth another shot, has been scoring Shield runs of late. The 2nd coming of an Aussie cricketer is usually better than the first.

With Clarkes future uncertain, and Sunshine unreliable our no3 and no4 positions look frail

SMarsh if he comes into the side needs to be more consistent

I wouldn't judge Cowan on one knock like yesterday as thats all he's done recently.

I agree Bucky looked terrible, very front on and feet not moving not to mention he didn't get out of single figures.

And don't get me started on the Precious One.

Problem is our selectors dont make wholesale changes so Bucky or Sunshine are gonna have to fail pretty bad to get replaced, same with Haddin if he continues to fail with the bat.

How long did they take to drop Hayden ?

I'm not convinced there are terribly many batting options available.

Joe Burns is about the only young(ish) bloke who is managing to average over 40, and has the ability to score centuries.
Khawaja is there and there abouts (on the strength of his first class record), but the question over his 'laziness' has to remain? Ability to turn a comfortable 2 into a single (etc). Not good for morale.
If we want a veteran, throw Voges out there?

It's sad to say it, but Big Show averages more than just about anyone else not mentioned at first class level. I'd much prefer him than returning to feed on our own vomit (Cowan/ Doolan/ Bailey)

Bit harsh on Sunshine fellas.

By all reports he's absolutely smashing them in the nets, and we all know that's all that really matters.

Just needs to get his big levers going.

Yeah, I agree - if he's dominating in the nets, and due for a big one, then that's enough really

With Joe Burns coming in he will bat 3.

Watson to 6.

We'll see, Shane is a #3, now at least, previously he was an opener... dropping down the order might mess with his prep, and affect his performance

Well if he stays at 3 he really needs to make a big score.

He's due for a good knock.
