Also McD & Morris/Farah should put on a kick-chase play (ala Cronk with Slater/Inglis) occaisonally. The opportunity is there in just about every game, with the opposition fullback either up in the defensive line or being very shallow in defense early on in the tackle count (ie tackles 1 & 2). This is the perfect opportunity to exploit McD’s greatest asset – speed. To date, an early kick to open field with McD in pursuit has not been attempted & I don’t know why. [/quote]

Sounds good in theory, the only problem is he would slip over before he got going and we would give up easy metres.

The kid has wonderful potential but he has yet to really show it at the level it matters. I do not doubt his skill but right now he has failed to click with the first grade squad for one reason or another. This is why I would chose Lawrence over him at fullback currently or Gallant.

Problem with Lawry going to fullback though is that Sheens may have to promote a 5/8th who is you know a 5/8th

I'd say Sheens thinks he's (Lawry) vulnerable in defence at fullback, as he's shown even in the centers...at 5/8 he's not so on his own....thats why he's there.

how bad a defender then is lawrence if sheens has more confidence in mcdonnell defending at the back,

So you have two poor defenders...you can either:

A/ Play one in his usual position and one out of position to fill an injury (current situation)

B/ Play both out of position.

or

C/ Drop the one offering nothing to the team and try someone different to see if they can offer something better.

I hate the fact that while Hodgo is out "claiming disbility" (to use a phrase that Ink would be very familiar with) Nepo is our go-to man at fullback.

What a shame that Nepo's only asset is speed. Much like Darren and Joven Clarke. Two of the best to pull on a FG jersey there, hey boys. I can gurantee you that in 3 years time this bloke will be mentioned in the same breath as those 2 nuffy's, if he's not there already!!

I gotta tell you, you never want to see injuries in a game of football, but every time McDonnell pulls on a boot I hope he gets decapitated!

That's a real classy thing to say about anyone let alone someone who plays for the club you supposedly support.

Give yourself an uppercut, you drip.

BTW Macca Sr played 1st grade, so it shows how much you know genius.

Junior Mac... what can you say about that effort...? Its hard not to raise suspicions of nepotism influencing the selection process.

Our 1-6-7-9 is looking horrible atm. You would take 1-6-7 to the knackery and start afresh.

Agree 100% TV Ted. Our 1 6 and 7 are woeful. We have a halfback that takes hit ups when we're in our own half on the 3rd and 4th tackle stuffing the rest of our set and then stands in the line on the last to make sure his kick is rushed and ineffective. Lawrence well f**k knows what position he is playing in attack... Buggered if it is 5/8 though. McDonnell well he justs looks like he doesn't want to be there. Putting down simple ball not using his pace and putting himself under pressure because of that.
Lets just bring up Gallant and a half....... Any half. I don't care who just someone that has some playmaking skills.
Refs aren't blowing penalties and defence are lying all over the play the ball so this makes Farah's game a lot less effective. We need some sort of flair to take the pressure off Farah.

oh well another week goes by and i am still yet to see all of this potential Mcdonnell is supposed to be showing, surely he will lose his spot for this weeks game, if not something is very wrong with team selection, at least i didnt see him slip over tonight.

I'm waiting for Vicious to come on and defend Macca by saying how bad Whatuira is. Shouldn't be too much longer.
