2001 was dykes knee. round 26 or so he did it

he was a bit gimpy in the prelim.

now that game.
im sure beattie did something dumb like hit a guy late after they kicked out on the full or some crap.

He signed himself out of hospital to play. Had a badly infected knee after an athroscope. Played the prelim less than a week after the arthroscope.

Shouldnt of played but thats what these guys do.

Wagged school to go to the '78 replay. Of course, we lost and to add insult to injury I got busted and got "six of the best", as we used to call it the next day at school.

And some of you younger folk wonder why us older supporters are so f**ked up, bitter and twisted when it comes to the Sharks.

1995-ET drops the ball at a crucial stage, Manly score and win. That hurt, nearly punched the old man out he was screaming at me.

Funny how the papers always bring this shit out every year. Double page spread Sunday special,ha f**k.

99 was horrific. Halftime was an impending sense of doom.

For the only time in my life I supported the Storm the week after. First GF at Homebush and I'd got tickets as soon as they went on sale. That I was about to watch the Sharks as well was an added benefit.

Then Mundine and those backflips.

Yeah remember 78,free love, flowing hair (the blokes),flared trousers, frazzled football fans and another footy flop.
Living in Cronulla, thems were the days my friend, after the loss wished they'd bloody end.

Now we get another bite of the big cherry.I am reinvigorated ,we can't be beaten,it's written in the sands, the Shire will not expire.

Spent the week in the next door neighbours pool at all hours to keep the leg cold and reduce the swelling.
Good fella dykesy

Reading these posts brings back a lot of memories. I go as far back as attending the two semi-finals in '88. Since then, there have been a lot of tears shed (some of them bitter) but I have made a point of staying until the end of those games. They still hurt (Dragons in '99 and Warriors in '02 especially) But, when we crack for our first premiership win, it will make the victory that much sweeter.

I also jigged to go to the replay, but convinced my mum to write me a sick-note. I think she took pity on me for all the cuts I used to cop from some sadistic bastard at Woolooware High
