The defense coach also needs to drill the team in contesting kicks and securing ground if the opposition gains possession after a kick in general play.

Before we recruited Ilias and Kyle Flannagan, did we check their long-kicking game?

Before we promoted LKt, did we check his long-kicking game?

Why is it that the Dragons do not have a player who can produce long kicks to the corner of the field in general play?

Can Glover or Reed produce long kicks to the corner in general play?

Flano trying to play coy by naming Allan.. not sure how dumb he thinks Fitzy is but Tsougranis' debut is already out in the media and Allan was listed as coming back in round 17 just last week.. he's fooling no one
And his second trick he'll shuffle the starting forwards around with the bench forwards an hour before kick off, Shane Houdini.

Who else do we have? nick t will play. our other fwd options are molo, lawrie, fifita, liu & halangahu. Our halves are glover or illias, how much better than kyle is either of them? Our backs are buchanan, finau. Our squad has poor depth & has been decimated by injuries. Whatever changes we make are going to be slight improvements at most atm.
Injuries but still lack of depth.
Bad management.
We've had the worst depth fior many years.

Can you hear the sound of thousands of dragons fans losing their trust in the coach?

This is looking like worst possible team and deserving of a thrashing.

Are we supposed to believe better things are around the corner? What evidence is there.
What would be your changes to this side, based on the troops we have available?

Kyle out the big one (fair enough) - but the forum has spoken about him deserving to be dropped at length. Who else do you think should be in, Nick T (who we’re assuming is a potential to be brought in before the game)?

Halangahu is a beast.
Nick T looks solid.
Sione Finau has more upside than others
Anyone but Kyle so at this point it's Ilias
More Liddell

What are we scared of?
Those we've brought up have succeeded so far this year. Persisting with the likes of Sloan and Kyle is just sad. Our biggest strength right now is to try some things out of the box as well. When you don't have the quality you have to beat the opposition with some inventiveness and elements of the unknown. Did this well v Broncos.

We can't sign quality which is the root cause and every time i see a team like this i grow just a little more disillusioned - where are we going as a club?

More Liddle I agree with wholeheartedly
Halangahu is unavailable this week due to u19s Origin
I would rather pick Glover than Ilias tbh

I totally understand the feeling disillusioned part - and it’s justified. I guess I’m just not as disillusioned as others, I think this year having so many juniors and new players come through will lead to better days for the club

The juniors is what we have to look forward to.

FULL STOP.

We have to do a Panthers model and build from the ground up. We can't do a Bulldogs as we cannot get the talent over.

BUT...here's the thing.

Everyone knows we lack the motivation and business acumen to bring about the change that is needed - there's no Gould, Richardson, Politis, Crowe around to drive a culture shift.

We are somehow just hoping if we sign enough once-good players, the change in which will become relevant and competitive again will take place. It doesn't work that way.

Resigned to unhappiness like everyone else. Watching on as if somehow we are not worthy.

It's a poor team hurt mostly but the loss of Sua, Egan and CT but a good club has cover and then some.

It certainly is a worry bigred. To me, a big worry!!

It is so obvious that our player strength for several years has been below par overall. If we had at least 4-5 better ones in the backs and forwards, we could be killing it. Better ones that we just cannot sign from other clubs which saddens me.

We do have the ability to a degree to match most clubs but not all (especially the bogey clubs that we find hard to beat most of the times). That is why 4-5 really good ones could turn this around and we then beat those bogey clubs most of the time we play them.

Our recruitment, retention and release of players needs better people to do this. Those that we have and have had have just not been able to do enough to secure the players we need and then we go for second best which is the same as for other years. Offer better deals and benefits to secure these players.

At this time, we have quite a few players that should be released no ifs or buts. Tell those players they are free to go as soon as possible but of course wait until we can get the replacements lined up first (which is bloody hard I know).

The bloody Bulldogs make it look so easy to get their man - Coaches and Players. Bastards!!

I am sure that the officials at the club are aware of this but

Cowboys have many out this week but still name a strong side.
We have a few injuries and struggle as we field the same team.

Pathetic.

People can be excited about the young players all they like, however the facts of the matter are that our club has not been conducive to the development of our young players for 15-20 years now, why would we start now?

Be it new signings that block pathways of emerging players, be it coaches not believing in them or be it that after a while we see they're just not good enough, whatever it may be, it's a reason for me to not be excited about our young players coming through.

I hope I'm wrong and the proof will be in the pudding ultimately, but our track record over the last 20 years speaks for itself in this regard and it's certainly not a good enough reason to extend the contract of an incompetent and nepotistic coach.
