Sharks headhunt new coach behind Stuart's back

RICKY STUART needs to have a serious discussion with Cronulla management due to increasing evidence that the club has been looking for an alternative coach for next season. Word out of England is that Sharks chairman Damian Irvine approached a third party to organise a meeting with Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown. Irvine made a rookie mistake by going to Brown: he is Stuart's mate. Stuart has another year left on his deal after this season. The Sharks cannot afford to pay him out - they must be hoping that the Broncos or another club offer Stuart a deal. Holding Stuart responsible for the Sharks' demise is way off the mark. A weaker coach would have walked away. He guided them through the Greg Bird and Tony Zappia dramas and allegations they had attempted to get around the salary cap through a special fund set up thanks to a benefactor.

It is of course Weidler, so take it with a grain of salt.

Haha, no chance Elliot for Sticky would be considered an upgrade, we'd be stupid if we did that.

OK supercoach so where do we get the money to pay out Stuart. The best news in ages would be if you forgot how to log into your computer.

Im sick of answering that question. Go back through some of my older posts and you will find your answer.

I could live with Brown being brought in, if it was a similar structure to what they have at the Storm ie, Sticky head coach and Brown filling the Kearney role.

If we had the money to do that I'd day it's a great move

I was the first to mention this story here on the first couple of days of March, yet got sniped from everywhere.

Irvine actually approached Brown direct, with Stuart's knowledge, as Brown cleared it with Stuart before having any talks with Irvine, and the talks were held last Xmas in Sydney. My mail is the supposed "under contract for next yr" reference regarding Stuart that keeps being pushed in the media is actually an option for the club to extend by a further year, the option is in the clubs favour not Stuart's, and Irvine told Stuart late last yr this would not be taken up (and so this is his last yr). So there will be no pay out, and hence the reason Stuart had his manager hawk him around to various clubs from late last yr onwards looking for a new job.

The same source who told be this also suggested that Stuart would be going to the Broncos from next yr onwards as Coaching Director / Assistant coach, with the Broncos wanting to sure up their development program and coaching staff quality post Bennett, and Stuart a longer term option for head coach (heaven help them).

& deservedly so.

So you think one of the top 5 coaches in the NRL would leave his future for next year hanging in the balance with only 75% of the current season remaining? What is your explanation of this again?

The next place Sticky goes may well be Brisbane, but you are wrong. Again.
