Hasn't it been 501..or is it 502 guilty verdicts in a row now for those judges?

Some of the comments in this thread have been shocking and hopefully just show the age of the posters who submitted them.

Despite all the mud flying around in this thread, I'm interested in one thing that's come out of this. The maximum penalty is death. The prosecution recommended a life sentence. I remember reading somewhere that it's very rare for that sentence recommendation to be veered away from if a guilty verdict is found. 4.1kg is a LOT of drugs, so you'd think the sentence for carrying so much would be at the higher end of the scale.

My question is why was the sentence reduced to 20 years, even though she was found guilty? There must be a reason why.

question is, how much would've she earned for peddling 4kg of pot in bali?

Really....

The whole trial was rigged.

It wouldn't surprise me if the same judges heard the appeal.

And if someone confessed to planting the drugs, I bet the Indonesian judges would ignore it and not release Schapelle. They just seem so f**king stubborn.

No Idea...

I smelt a rat from the start. You can buy a quarter pound of top quality heads in Bali for about $100 Aussie dollars...oh and thats not to mention Opium that is cheaper for a hit than a bic lighter.

I'm suprised millers said his mate smuggled acid into Bali to fund his trip..... The Aussie punters must of needed LSD instead of the hundreds of places you can get majic mushies from.

Doesn't make sense to me and neither does it to my friends that live there for months at a time every year since the early eighties.

I'm only sold on her innocence because it would take an all-time record feat of incredible stupidity for her to be guilty (and that's discounting the sheer stupidity of actually trying to get drugs into Indonesia). Who, looking to transport that much weed, would possibly overlook seeking out rudimentary drug trafficking information like what are the risks and how can they be minimised? (She took a connecting flight when direct flights were available) and how does the particular market compare to the domestic one, where the risk of exporting it doesn't factor into the equation. She'd be risking the death penalty to lose a substantial amount of money - doesn't make any sense.

Maybe it's my last shred of faith in humanity, but I think this broad might just have got the short end.

Oh well.

Exactly what Corby supporters want the government to do is unclear. It seems like they basically want the PM to say "We've got white skin, you've got yellow skin, therefore you get the f**k out of the way and let us interfere in your legal system and bring a convicted drug smuggler home without punishment".

I think they mainly want a thorough inquiry into the baggage handling claims.

But why all the vitriol at Indonesia then? Granted, many are simply low life racists who are looking for any excuse to abuse Indonesians and the like, but the likelihood is, that if drugs were planted in her bag as she claims, this was done by an Australian at an Australian airport. Yet you don't them see calling for a boycott of all travel to Brisbane, do ya?

Your mob's the one who want to start the rallies, riots, beheadings, etc. coolum. I'm content with the way things played out.

There's nothing particularly racist about that last statement, so I don't know what you're trying to say there coolum.

How exactly did she not get a fair trial NPK? I'm not trying to pick a fight, it's just that when you press for detail on these sorts of claims by Corby supporters, they usually can't provide you with much.

If it had been a US court, Europe or Britain I'm sure there wouldn't have been anywhere near the carry on.

Well I would hope that the investigative and judicial processes wouldn't be so icompetent in Eurpore or Britian. If simple forensic evidence was tampered with in a court case in those countries I am sure there would be a carry on. However, miscarriages of justice are not unheard of in British justice system. For example those wrongly jailed for IRA bombings.

australian drugs are smuggled into indonesia all the time
westerners pay more for hydro

at the end of the day she lied to customs and lied to the court

she was found in possesion of a great amount of drugs

people say it wouldnt happen here in australia

lets examine the legislation

s.233B Special provisions with respect to narcotic goods
(1) A person commits an offence if:

(a) the person:
(i) possesses goods on board a ship or aircraft; or
(ii) brings goods into Australia; or
(iii) imports goods into Australia; or
(iv) possesses goods that have been imported into Australia in contravention of this Act; or
(v) conveys goods that have been imported into Australia in contravention of this Act; or
(vi) possesses goods that are reasonably suspected of having been imported into Australia in contravention of this Act; or
(vii) fails to disclose to an officer on demand any knowledge in his or her possession or power concerning the importation or intended importation, or bringing or intended bringing, into Australia of goods; and
(b) the goods are a prohibited import to which this section applies.

furthermore

(2) It shall not be lawful for any person to convey or have in his
possession without reasonable excuse (proof whereof shall lie upon
him) any smuggled goods or prohibited imports.

in summary

"its not mine" is a defence that will not work in australia either

oh and NHF

the "respect" for women you waffle about presumably doesnt extend to indonesian women who you would happily see die en masse

Well I did a few threads ago... go back and have a look....

My question is why would you smuggle hydro into Bali when you get a shyte load more for it here...

Also I believe (know) that their whole judicial system is corrupt corrupt corrupt..

Hand over foot over hand over the cash!! Do you get what I mean now sunny?

A friend of mine got life for smuggling (or trying to) smuggle gold up his arse and he got off within four years becuase the head "monkey"(bribe taking criminal and his cronies) gave him a pardon. Was he guilty?? Yes! Did he deserve life??

Are you with me?

This is why I get so angry at people like you...the "do good'ers" of our country that point the finger in the direction of WHITE PEOPLE whenever anything like this comes up.

I bet you've never even been to Indo!!(or even Bali)

Facts dont nessasarily have much to do with reality of whats really going on when it comes to this type of thing sunny, trust me.

This case makes the forensic evidence presented in the Lindy Chamberlain case look like cutting edge science. And that was 1980. 2005, and they can't even get the fingerprinting right? Sounds like 19th century investigative techniques to me.

Anyone going to Bali feel secure without their baggage sealed, and made 100% tamper proof? Does the fact that weed has been planted in baggage before ring any alarms bells in your open and shut, "she was guilty as hell", mentality?

Yes millers noted

If you want to look at the whole facts you will see the prosecutions testimony flawed as well...but anyway..
