Should Cameron Smith be allowed to play for Qld and Australia

Because he cannot say he did not know. He is the captain, he should be leading the team on and off the field. He should not be taking brown paperbag payments and then whinging that the salary cap needs to be raised. If the NRL deregistered him (and any other guilty player) personally for bringing the game into disrepute, I would not argue with the penalty. For this sort of stuff to stop, the players have to say no. You cant just say, they offered it to me, so I took it.
Here in AFL land, the NRL is seen as taking it easy on players who stuff up.

Is that you Waldron ??....:?

Yes for what he signed, not what everyone else did. No one player can be expected to know what all 25 are on.that is the job of the employer.

The issue i was reinforcing was simply the signing of 2 contracts by the players and not the salary cap administration by the club and how that is somehow the responsibility of a player to know.

Do you know what eveyone gets paid at your work or just what you get paid?

Yes i do...................but i must confess I am the business owner

So you'd be happy with players, who broke no actual law, getting deregistered and going to another competition (or sport) for allegedly accepting payments that were outside the cap.. if so, you're an idiot.

You're jumping to conclusions here. It's not the players problem.

Also, in AFL land, 14 players tested positive for illegal recreational drugs last year.

I suggest the Tax department might have a different view of whether they broke the law if they received undeclared income be it cash, speedboat, house improvements, Harvey Norman gift cards, cars for partners.

Another AFL player under investigation tonight for drugs, you got me there.

And no, I am not related to Waldron, I have been with the Storm since 1999 and am still there. I just dont subscribe to the line "Not my fault".

Yes but not the house renovation. This cannot be under the cap. This makes him a liar. This is my point, the house reno pushes him over the top, if it is true.
You have no proof of that whotsoever. Their are a millon plawsable explinations. He may not evan have noun his house was being renovated? Four all you know they could have been upgrading his roof tyles while he was at training and he never looked up cause he was tired when he got home from training..

last week, when cameron smith came out and talked of player strikes and the like should the salary cap not be raised. David gallop came out with the comment that the storm salary cap issue "begins and ends with cameron" or words to that effect.

If (big if) the claims of house renovations come out to be true, on top of the foxtel overpayment, as well as the 2nd contract, smith must have been complicit in the rort.

I cannot see how smith can continue as captain of the storm. I also would prefer that he be ineligible to play for australia as i do not want a person of this character representing my country. I am not a qld-er, but if i was i would not want him representing my state.

As others have said, lets let the investigation run its natural course, BUT lets not sugarcoat this sh*t either.
If he is found to be complicit in the deception then he has no place in this game, at any level, now or in the future.
The "took payments from charity" thing is what really irks me, and I hope that isn't true, something on that level......................uggggggh, the lowest of lows, stealing from children?, f**king disgusting, any player who received money that was supposed to be for a worthy cause should be banned for life from playing, attending, watching, thinking about or talking about - the NRL, no ifs buts or maybes as it is human behavior at its absolute lowest.

I am also having a hard time believing that him having his kitchen / house renovated didin't raise some doubt in his mind, would be a real shame if he is found to be knowingly involved in it.
The thing is, he can't win, even if it comes out "he knew nothing" then people are just going to look him up and down, shake their heads and say "f**king genius".
If he knew, then see lines 3 and 5 of this post.
