The NRL will reduce the number of Sydney teams when they support the idea of St George being the Club to represent the Southern Districts i.e. St George District, the Shire and the Illawarra District. Each District will have a team in the Canterbury Cup and be the 3 feeder clubs for NRL team, the St George Southern Districts team. The bottom line is that if we split with Illawarra STG are the ones who will struggle. I don’t mean on the field, I mean off it. The NRL will not keep the 16 teams they have got now forever, people complain about the spread of talent etc already. A second Brisbane team will come soon enough and Perth as well as a second NZ side is still something the NRL dream of. If these areas are given a license the reality is that one or two Sydney clubs will be sacrificed to act as the piggy back for these new areas into the comp. Our link to Illawarra protects us. Cronulla are stronger than us and they have the PM and developers onside. They are going nowhere. Easts - no, Manly - no, Parramatta or Penrith - no, the hypocritical Souths - no. Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne, North Queensland, the Broncos and the Warriors are safe. It is likely North Queensland and the Broncos will always argue that the NRL should support the Titans. (To protect themselves). So who do we have left for amalgamation or relocation? The Dogs, the West Tigers and, if we separate from Illawarra, St George. I am not happy with everything about the joint venture as I am a Saints man, but let’s live in the present. I don’t want my disappointment with aspects of our club see us relocated or see us become a minor player in a Cronulla dominated joint venture.
You are living in a fantasy world.
It is on the cards to go that way, the only question is when.
Is this the same “fortress” with the inferior win rate and that we’ve been held scoreless at multiple times?Get out of the JV and come back to our fortress at Kogarah.
No but WIN's preferred head coach has delivered an undesirable win rate this year. I say get rid of WIN's preferred head coach and get rid of WIN so that St George can return to it's fine win rate record. Is this the same “fortress” with the inferior win rate and that we’ve been held scoreless at multiple times?
Where do you get this stuff from? The NRL will reduce the number of Sydney teams when they support the idea of St George being the Club to represent the Southern Districts i.e. St George District, the Shire and the Illawarra District. So you’re saying win’s win isn’t a win so if getting rid of win’s win would be a win, and getting rid of win would also be a win so we’d be more likely to win.No but WIN's preferred head coach has delivered an undesirable win rate this year. I say get rid of WIN's preferred head coach and get rid of WIN so that St George can return to it's fine win rate record.
Keep up this level of intelligent contribution, and you’ll be a lock for a position on the new board.Illawarra to be removed they no longer are part of the club.St.george wincorp are now 50..50 .
Its all 100% correctl 50.50 .Keep up this level of intelligent contribution, and you’ll be a lock for a position on the new board.
FMD.. The JV is an ownership structure for the licence to field a first grade team. St George own 50%, WIN own the other 50%.
Your argument is akin to saying the Newcastle Knights weren’t an NRL side when Tinkler owned it.
Honestly, you make Mary look like a genius..
I'll do it..Could someone politely point out to this peanut that there wasn’t any “ argument” to my original post?
What a sensitive, little man!
And feel free to illustrate the fine nuances between joint ventures and partnerships, provided his little mind can comprehend it.
I'll do it..
@muzby you Illawarra knobhead, don't you realise that Jimmy is always right..
Take your Wollongong loving head out of your Mt Ousley arse and realise that you are an inferior being and should never prove him wrong, nor be a smartarse about it when he gets upset.
The sooner we get rid of the Steelers and return to being a Kogarah based outfit only, the sooner we can get rid of you and your stupid orange avatar.
Seriously muz, you are an annoying twat and the forum would be better without you.
But not in favour of retention of the partnership?Very good.
Now, are you also aware that I’m an advocate for both the Illawarra region and favour the retention of the joint venture?
Your last paragraph is pretty spot on.
But not in favour of retention of the partnership?
Spot on!So you’re saying win’s win isn’t a win so if getting rid of win’s win would be a win, and getting rid of win would also be a win so we’d be more likely to win.
Sounds like a win-win..
Vexatious? Them's fighting words..If it keeps the Dragons financially afloat, sure, why not?
Remember, I only queried whether SGI is still a joint venture in its current form. Somehow, you inexplicably you construed this as vexatious “argument”. This wasn’t my intent, nor is there ANY suggestion to say otherwise.
To stuff up...royally...is Muzby.
Vexatious? Them's fighting words..
You really shouldn't escalate your argument so quickly..
I’d say at least a decade before WIN acquires the remaining 3 seats on the board. Then we will finally be able to rid ourselves of Johnston and hire a CEO that is not an ex Kogarah boy. The new CEO’s first move should be to get rid of the old boys club. Next they should completely disassociate with St George Leagues club, to eliminate the likelihood of nepotism creeping back into the culture. Finally they should play all games out of WIN stadium, as it is a better stadium and has better facilities, higher crowd averages and is lower cost to play out of than Kogarah. The Dragons brand should be retained, because it’s iconic and has 16 premierships associated with it. The club’s head quarters must then be based out of Wollongong as it should have always been as the chief supplier of players and given all games are likely to be played there. They should keep St George juniors as a feeder club because it has produced the very occasional gem, despite the fact it’s given us Jacob Host. But there should be basic KPI’s set on feeder clubs to produce at least 1 first grader every 3 years or they will be cut away. Finally, the club can drop the St George monicker and become the Illawarra Dragons as recognition that the bulk of funding, players and supporters come from the region, and besides Kogarah has always been, albeit small, a part of the greater Illawarra area. After all what’s a river and a national park between friends? The NRL will reduce the number of Sydney teams when they support the idea of St George being the Club to represent the Southern Districts i.e. St George District, the Shire and the Illawarra District.
