Should the 8 point power play stay?

Should the power play option become a permanent in NRL matches?

No , it was sh*t.
The defence is set from a set play position. Its too hard to crack.
They will need to run back 20-30 metres back towards there own goal line and hope to get the defence staggered.
It's not practical in our game and you only get an extra 2 points for it.

Without the threat of a kick it makes it too easy for the defence. Teams will struggle to score unless they take more defenders out or use a scrum formation or something.

They would need to add a kick or maybe take the wingers (instead of the fullback) out instead to make the rule work and to add more incentive to try it. Otherwise it's going to be a rule no one realises exists unless it's absolutely needed

Fair dinkum - if they decided to make players run naked with a bread roll around their c*cks it would make more sense than that bullsh*t!

This is the NRL, not NFL. It sounds like a ticky tack gimmick and is a gimmick. Clearly didn't work either.
They tried, it didn't work, need to move on.

Conversions are boring too. I think it has too much bearing on a game.

While I don't like it the way it is being done now I think there's potential in the idea.

How about this. In stead of opting for the conversion you can have a full set of six starting from the 20m line. Play as normal, meaning all players are available, kicks are allowed and the opposition can score. If the opposition is tiring this might be put a dagger in the heart, or if you're way behind it has the potential to get you back into a game.

Didn't enjoy it at all. And if it ever became law, imagine it filtering down into the junior leagues. With all the big islanders in the junior grades up against the smaller kids, you would see some cricket scores.

Maybe, because there will be less time wasted on conversions kicks and fitness will be tested opening up a game more (leading to more tries) and maybe more swings. If you're being thrashed by 50 it's not like you were in the match anyway.

On a kick off the first tackle may be on the 30-40m line so there's only a slight field advantage.

I thought it was a joke, It would make the field goal when you are ahead by 6 worthless.

Stupid idea slows the game and is confusing.........If it did come in I see teams opting for it only when they score on the side line and have a sh*t kicker

loved it

alot of people will hate it though seeing as it is very similar to the NFL's 2 point conversion and not many people like change, however change is good and this is better to watch than a f**king goal kick..

not a change when its predictable like the power play is , the team has to throw the ball around hoping for a bad mistake by the opposition .

It shows how boring the game would become if the nrl listen to the fans on getting rid of the kick for a try. or make it less points for a try off the kick

Lucky nrl dont listen to ideas from fans otherwise league would become boring as union , alot of fans want trys from kicks barred

No. The play is too static and the only way it would be effective would be to limit it to backs against backs and allow kicks so that there are chances to score out wide through a bomb.

I thought it was great to watch, hilarious seeing the old style walls and these trick shots etc, but not for a real NRL game

keep it to a game such as this, make it a bit of fun, but leave it out of the real stuff

Ridiculous, pointless & completely unnecessary. League is going like the clAckers at the moment & doesn't need this gimmicky rubbish ruining the gladitorial aspect of the game.

What next - a basketball hoop behind the in-goals so if a player can slam-dunk the ball after scoring he gets an extra 4 points? IOf it's a bid to capture more TV audience, why not have the public SMS their rating of a try out of ten? The averaged score is what the team is awarded?

Fair dinkum, what nonsense.
