Should this be a concern for Knight's fans?

Once again, our season is over before it begins. Everything was going right for us for a big 2013, new signings, a full strength squad, second off season with Bennett coaching us. Regardless of what players say, this kind of shit does effect their on field performances, they will deny it though. This kind of uncertainty, even if it is subconscious, worries the players.

I hope I am wrong though.

As has been the case for the previous few years. Smith leaving early, the Wicks/Houston issue. I agree with you, however fairly disruptive off field issues seem to occur regularly at the club. I'm thinking some of the players who have been there a while may cope fairly well having gone through tough times before. Having Bennett AND Stoney there may be enough to have the playing group solely focused on their job - training, playing and winning. Fingers crossed.

Tinkler's demise may have come earlier than most would have thought, me included. If he can't pull another rabbit out of his hat to sure up what's left then it will be a great opportunity lost for the club and the Newcastle local league. I hate the saying but "shit happens". Hopefully another "White Knight" may present himself if and when needed to ensure all remains well with the club. Otherwise............

Players shouldn't be too worried about their future. Newcastle won't fail because Tinkler isn't there- the old Patron's Trust would see the club as an even more attractive investment now that the debt has been paid off(???), increased funding from the TV deal, and the fact that Tinkler has purchased equipment and helped sign ~20,000 members.

We might not be a profitable business, but we also aren't the black hole that we have been in previous years.

Craig Hamilton on ABC radio a few hours ago stated sontrary to newspaper reports there has been no agreement made.

Apparently the proposal put forward by HSG did not meet all the requirements of the Memebers and was in fact rejected.

I hate all this stuff.
So it was agreed to last night but the goalposts have moved today. Who actually *is* pulling the strings here?

It's very unsettling.

Relax, guys. Let's speculate for a moment that the bank guarantee falls through completely. Worst case scenario - Tinks goes bust and we get nothing but the club back. For starters the NRL have stated that club grants will be more fluid from here on in, with more going to the teams in need. We'd certainly fall into that category at that point, so we'll get some assistance there. Old sponsors and new will most likely jump on board at a rate of knots to be a part of the good PR story that is saving the Newcastle Knights. We should surely be able to get back to the $7mill sponsorship we had pre-Tinks. Additionally, all our debts leading up to season 2012 have been wiped clear. Even considering debt accumulated this year - we'd still be miles ahead of where we were in that respect I'd think, with the primary outstanding debt, at this stage, being 400k for the stadium.

It all sounds doom and gloom, but even if we don't get a penny (which I don't believe will be the case at all, the bank guarantee is there for a reason), I feel we'll be OK. We're are a resilient team, and a resilient town.

I am not concerned about the knights future. We are never going to fold.
My concern is with how this will effect the team and our premiership chances next season. After all, it all boils down to winning the comp and these distractions put a big dent in our chances.

Hopefully one way or another this will be.sorted by end of Jan at the very latest and the players can get on with the job without the distractions.

It would take a monumental stuff up for us to ever revisit the old days of debt with 20 million in the bank. No other club has a bank balance even close to that. You run to your budget and you survive. The game will not let club's fold on the back of a new tv deal. It simply cannot afford to. If anything a debt free club is a massive investment opportunity for many companies. My point being the money you give is used to improve the club brick by brick rather than just pay off old debt. You are seen as a genuine contributor and not a charity giver. I think we will attract sponsorship like never before. I would put part of that 20 million in a high interest account where any debts are paid off the back of the interest it earns if able. Use the rest to build on what we already have.

Seems like a bit of an unusual circumstance, the members club would have to react to this and start action in re-taking the club one would think?
