Should Todd Carney be allowed back in the NRL?

I'm f**king sick and tired of people saying Todd Carney was treated unfairly.

He was arrested for Drink Driving- The Raiders stood by him.

He got involved in a High speed police chase while drunk, abandoning his car leaving Steve Irwin in the passenger seat- Raiders stood by him but sacked Irwin.

He pissed on a bloke in a pub- Raiders were prepared to stand by him.
They told him he must abide by a 5 step plan to curb his behaviour, including rehab and alcohol bans.
Carney said f**k that! It was only at this point that raiders sacked him.

While he was without a club he went on a vandalism spree. He was barred from his home town.

Roosters pick him up.

Before he plays a game he allegedly sets a bloke on fire in a pub. Roosters stand by him.

In early 2011 he gets caught drink driving. Roosters stand by him.

In mid 2011 he gets caught drinking while on injury rehab (on curfew). Roosters stand by him.

Late 2011 he breaks curfew again. Roosters finally release him.

Sharks pick him up. Water tight contract. He as much as farts in an elevator he gets sacked.

Dude last few years. Then he literally pisses it away.

2018, Cowboys express some interest. He is asked if he would give up alcohol to play nrl again. He refuses to do it.

geniuss and bogans go 'oh he done one minor thing and he was sacked'. Or even 'how can lodge do that while Carney gets sacked for something minor'. Here's the thing, the one thing guys like Lodge or packer have done are arguably worse (keep in mind carney has been in drunken police chases, urinated on people and set them on fire), but it was only ever one incident or one period of their lives that they were out of control. They've had to jump through hoops to be let back in, and once given that chance theyve done everything to put their best step forward. Carney was given these chances repeatedly, not only did he piss on himself (literally, nd also on some random pub patron) he repeatedly pissed on people who gave him so many other chances and helped him so much.

Although I get why they did it, letting this bloke take the fall for Carney way back when was probably a key moment in the Carney debacle. It was almost 10 years before the guy was ever truly held accountable for his f**k ups. He’d always get another chance if he waited long enough and asked nicely enough, then proved he learnt nothing.

When I see a fb post about this incident you usually see Irwin lighting up Toddy in the comments.
