He definitely nailed him, don't believe it was intentional and I think Billy might have milked it a bit...

What do you reckon, 3 weeks ?

The 'special' player on the receiving end makes the punishment a week or two longer than would be the case otherwise.

5 weeks. Should have been ordered off without a shadow of a doubt. Cecchin should be in reserve grade for a month for that.

Agree it wasn't intentional, but milked it????

Will be harsh given the media, and it wasn't a journeyman who got hit

The reaction to it has been an absolute joke

Just because it is media darling Slater, its a big deal. If the hit was Harris on Wighton it wouldn't be rating as much of a mention

Suspendable ? Yep, few weeks off. As bad as being made out, nope

Storm comments on it are completely hypocritical as well, how much filth have they put on over the years ? Remember how McKinnon was on the ground in a world of hurt and they were blaming him for it ?

I'm surprised we didn't suspend the comp either while we waited for news on Smiths injury, how pathetic was it last night with Voss constantly going on about having breaking news on Smiths injury all through the commentary !!

I thought he would of received instructions from the bunker.
Slow Mo replay didn't help, slipping didn't help.
Sia should of pulled out of tackle/swinging arm.
Responsiblity remains with the tackler.

He will get 5 weeks with early guilty plea.

The word 'intent' has been poppin up...

Unfortunately for the both of them, Slater was slipping/falling going into contact and Sias arm that was meant for the chest, copped the jaw instead. During that game, the commentary mentioned Slater was slipping quite a bit, they assumed Billy would've changed his boots at halftime but they zoomed in on his boots to show he had they same pair on in the 2nd half where he continued to slip. Had Sia for some bizarre reason decided that he was going to intentionally go for Billys head, he would've missed in that circumstance as the arm would've been too high.

In NZ and Aus the intent on defence has always been to smash the defender. Not high but...you know what I mean.

I think you're being clouded the other way, being a Manly fan who hates the Storm. Hell, I hate the Storm.

That was a disgusting, late, always high-ish (yes the fact Slater slipped a bit made it worse but it was always high chest/chin) hit that to me had malice. Can you prove malice? Well when it's so blatantly late and absolutely he had time to pull out, then yeah I think you can.

6 weeks. Give him the rest of the year off. Yeah maybe it's getting more air time being Slater but it doesn't change it being a dog act tackle. Maybe it serves to get the right come uppance.

Potentially that may be true lol

But let's go back a week, where was the outrage on Papali nailing Dugan in the head with a shoulder charge ? Shot was just as bad imo, only saving grace was Dugan still had the ball

Going back a few years now, I remember Inglis nearly decapitating someone with a shoulder charge, may have been Soward ?? Another media favourite, this time dishing the tackle out, and he was just "unlucky" and no cries for a send off etc

Do find it hard to have sympathy for Slater after all the shit he had put in over the years

I will never have any sympathy for that prick Slater. I can't really
be objective because Sia is a personal friend to me and my family.

If he'd been sent off, do u think he'd only be looking at 2-3 weeks max? Things seem to have only blown up because it was reported.
Yes, and think you are right. Often the sending is considered
punishment enough. In this case though, he would also be looking at vacation time,
and that probably would be 3-4 weeks.

Sia will be hammered. The media have crucified him and basically hung him out to dry.

He won't get a fair hearing thanks to the likes of Fittler and Johns..

I see Cooper Cronk has come out today and said that Sia should get a very long ban

What an disgrace. I don't remember Cooper coming out with any public statement about how many weeks McLean should have got when they stuffed McKinnons career

This trial by media bullshit is outrageous

It was a bad hit - from memory not as bad as the one Tapau put on Bird, what did he get - I don't recall the 'poor Jack' shit, or the referees boss commenting, or Gallen or Lewis commenting on what should happen to Tapau
