SIGN LIDDLE LONG TERM ASAP

The problem with our hookers is a bit like the problem we have with finding a long-term No 7. No one player currently at the club has the complete skill set for the position- and there's just a shortage of such people just as new teams are entering the competition. Cook's defence is much better than Liddle's but he doesn't have the dash of a few years ago. With the No 7, one (Ilias) has a long kicking game but lacks an accurate short kicking game, savvy running ability and overall game management. Neither King Togia or KF can kick for sour apples so we are pushing the proverbial uphill at the end of every set by allowing our opponents to start in a better position than they should be allowed to.

I don't see Atkinson resolving the No 7 for SF so we can all look forward next season to ongoing cliffhanger games where our overall grit and tenacity rather than halves skills get us the points.

I think the question that has to be answered here is, who will be our run on hooker in 2027?
With Cook 'supposedly' finishing up his playing career at the end of '26.

Now, do I believe we should re-sign Lids? Yeah, for sure, but I feel his optimal value is coming on from the bench, not as a starter. If he is looking for a starting role, then I think teams will work out how to nullify his overall effectiveness.

We've signed Atkinson as a 6, hence why LKT is playing as the 7 and not KFlan.

So, where does that leave KFlan for '26 and onwards? Obvious to me that he will play as the 14, as the secondary hooker that can cover multiple backline positions if necessary.
As for Lids, does he 'hang around' in KOE Cup for a year? I doubt that very much.

The only scenario that seems to fit for '26 is that LKT drops back to cup, Cook and Lids continue

Just a thought. But I'm wondering what other fans on here think about us trying to grab Jonah Pezet from the Storm. Kid is stuck in Reggie's there, but seems like he has been ready for first grade for some time and has all the skills needed to make a long career as a 7? He might just form a nice combo with Atkinson?
He is a Braith Anasta client not sure how he keeps Illias happy by doing that tbh.

The rumour is fertilised by S F actions week in week out re his usage of Liddle and obvious preference for Cook despite Liddle being the better player by some margin.
Flanno is playing him perfectly! He’s playing as well as he’s ever played this season coming off the bench and having great impact.
Last year we saw what it looked like him playing 80 mins, it wasn’t as good as this year.
How you can have a go at the coach I’m not sure, he’s getting the best out of Liddle.
And if Liddle truly is agitating because he wants to play 80mins then FMD the coach can’t win, it’s Lomax to the wing all over

Disagree

Liddle was a class above Cook last year and is again this year.

Indeed he can’t play 80 but needs to play a lot more than what he is playing and Cook minus Reynolds has been bog ordinary and the very reason Bennett let him go.

Liddle should start and finish the game and have a small break in between.

The question is should Cook or K F provide the break well if it was me it would be K F and Cook wouldn’t be here and I would have purchased a top 6 or 7.

Anyone that doesn’t think the situation was not highly orchestrated is kidding themselves.

If you had to keep 2 out of Liddle, Cook, KF
the 1st one you would keep is Liddle.

One of the reasons Lomax stated for leaving us was because he didnt want to play wing, he saw himself as a centre.
Round 10 and now he’s a winger at Parra.
One of the reasons Ben Hunt stated he didn’t want to play hooker was because he saw himself as a half at club level and was only happy to play hooker at rep level.
Round 10 he’ll now be a hooker for Broncos.
One of the reasons Liddles manager has stated he may sign elsewhere is because he wants to play longer minutes, ie a starting hooker.
I’ll bet my left nut if he signs elsewhere he will be playing bench utility by Round 10.

If only it could happen. Just thinik Galvin/Atkinson. Both young and very quick. If this happened, Gutho could replace Suli when Ramsey moves to our NRL fullback position.
Who'll do the kicking? - I admit I haven't watched all his matches but I'm yet to see Atkinson kick a ball for the Sharks- if he does, he's way behind Trindall and Nicho in quality. Haven't noticed Galvin doing much kicking either.

either way - If Liddle management think he's an 80 Minute player it's a lose, lose for Flanno
Certain factions will play on that!

Douiehi Would have been a fine choice for number 7 and kicking is not a problem. I thought he was in the mix so what happened there?

The key lies in the delivery; as the examples above illustrate, the message is ultimately accepted
at different clubs.

I do not enjoy admitting this.

I would rather say that they are all twats. I think I can say that Bunt is the biggest PITA, and Lomax is a little petulant. But Liddle is pretty solid and doesn't strike me as hard work. Anyway, I do hope we keep him.

Who is in charge of talking to these players to try to retain them?
Whoever it is needs to attend an intense influencing workshop, as whatever they're doing isn't working.

He’s been removed by the far, far lesser players because one is the coaches pet and the other is his son.

Would be typical and when it most likely happens, is the last straw for me.

We have truly horrible stakeholders.
