There appears there's a new virus going around which only effects STGI forumites.

It's called RAAAP- 20

Symptoms include:
- assuming players want to come to play at the Dragons. Especially from teams who are consistantly higher on the ladder than us.
- offering large contracts both in $$$ and length of deal
- ignoring our juniors, who, if they leave because they can't get a go, the blame is then on the retention team.
- playing players out of position
- letting players 'go' who are under contract
- salary cap doesn't exist
- assume players would be 'happy' playing CC

Cure:
A good lie down and a reality check. It's that simple.

Oh and RAAAP stands for - recruit anyone at any price

Studies have found that the virus RAAAP has evolved from a less known virus called RNOAQ, which is first thought to have originated nearly a decade ago. STGI forumites are particularly susceptible to RAAAP virus as many have suffered a major exposure to
RNOAQ. It is true some STGI forumites strongly believe this virus will be fully eradicated by the simple replacement of a pumpkin coach.

Im worried it will take much more. It is my belief if the upward trend of richer clubs fielding a higher proportion of high profile players continues then the RAAAP virus will not only continue but will thrive. Until the mystical ‘salary cap’ that hypnotises players to play for peanuts to play under their messiahs(super coaches) is addressed than I fear the worst for STGI forumites. Many won’t agree and fully believe that players aren’t seeking cash and believe everything we are told is 100% legit. Unfortunately I’m not one of them and see further bleakness to plague our followers.

Oh and RNOAQ stands for - recruit no-one of any quality

The collective wisdom seems to be that not only will we go back to the funding model you outline but also the cost reduced, stripped back staffing formula of yesteryear. Assistant and specialist coaches (including wrestling coaches -yay), consultants, stats and IT guys, the so-called High performance units etc will go by the way and the Head Coach will be like the one man band- so you better have a good one.

Don't know much about Sheppard - Flanagan is the only proven performer for mine so I would be banging down the doors of Greenberg and Vlandys offices to get his ban reduced so he can start up as a Head Coach by June 1 this year. Our crowds are dismal and Mary will lead the club to oblivion if he continues.

Roosters will still have these irrespective of what the cap is.Correct me if i'm wrong but the NRL can't control this.

Exciting St George Illawarra Dragons back-rower Jackson Ford has agreed to a new two-year extension, according to WIN News Illawarra’s Corey Hammond.

The new deal ties the the 22-year old to the club until at least the end of the 2022 NRL season.

Ford has played five NRL games for the Dragons after making his debut in Round 21 last season.

He was named in the 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW team of the season, with the Dragons winning the minor premiership.

Ford figures to be a big part of he club’s future amid Tyson Frizell’s imminent move to the Newcastle Knights.

BREAKING: Big signing news for the @NRL_Dragons with promising back-rower Jackson Ford agreeing to a 2-year contract extension (end of 2022). Ford is considered 'key' by the club, given Tyson Frizell's imminent departure.

I could be negative about this but prefer to look at it as only part of Tysons money went into this and he is not considered a direct replacement. Gave him 2 more years to prove himself which is probably fair enough ( but with future cap limits not set perhaps a bit hasty ? ) . Up to all the young forwards in the club to prove themselves this season, even with McCareer destroyer at the helm. Listen to Flanagan & give lip service to the impostor.

And just like COVID, this virus originates from animals - in this case small furry marsupials....

I would like to see more of him in 1st grade before I "Yahoo"...did not see enough of him in reggies to fully judge as what I saw I did not see him being a line buster!!!
But..plenty on here rate him highly....some of those appear to be pretty good judges so I will watch with abated breath and I just hope he builds up a bit because I dont want him to be a another Jacob Host version.

Host I believe is just not quite big enough (more so from waist down) to have the power and impact we need in our backrow for the role he plays or for a regular 1st grade NRL backrower nor the ball / passing skills.
Plays with heart and tries to skittle em in the role he is given but easy pickings for defence, dumb things and a dumb coach have played their part in his lack of advancement
I may be wrong but I think it might mean bye bye Mr Host for 2021

Denis the cap wont be an issue.
When they decide the % reduction if that what actually does happen...then the salaries will be reduced by that. So 700K proposed could be the new 560K something like that with a 20% drop in salary cap to clubs
The NRL and RLPA would have to have agree on a clause built in to the new 2021 contracts before they sign off on it to reflect that. They may do nothing with the cap and leave it as is for a while and force cuts in other areas of club spending (which to me will be the 1st hit - football club staff they will have to get rid off!!)

With existing salary contracts like Paul Vaughan not sure the legal implications but the players did sign off on an agreement to have a share or a % of the NRL's wealth? or broadcaster money.
If that falls their current agreements may result thattheir salary falls in line again by a % drop.

Not writing this kid off but to be honest I’m not overly excited at this stage. Loves a bit of shirt grabbing which I hope he fixes with more 1st grade experience.
I still hold out hope for Jacob Host, unfortunately Mcflop has stalled his game badly. Reminds me of a young Matt Prior who also had his issues at times b4 Flanno fixed that. Host under Flannos guidance and watch him improve considerably

Unfortunately I agree, as much as I was hopping Host could make the step up, I just think he hasn't got enough mongrel in him to be a dominant 1st grade forward. That is one thing McNoidea can't be blamed for....

I thought Prior played well in our 2010 GF under Wayne

I'm of the opinion that COVID 19 was made by scientists in a lab and was transmitted outside of the lab to test it's potency. The experiment has proved successful and big dollars will be made from the cure also developed by the same lab.
