Mine are saved as gif files, hence the low filesize. No loss of quality either.

Saving them as JPEGs will make them around 30kb which is pointless. I don't know why people would do that :roll:

The only reason I can think of why the save files are like that is its the only way the program they are using can be saved as. The program that I use is Fireworks3 on my old Mac which only saves them as pngs. The photoshop program cant be loaded up as its too out of date for some reason the files save as (JPEG/ not the jpeg, that you see on the modernised versions. I don't understand why it does it likt that)) I do have albums that are avatars & sigs only in my profile. Can someone please tell me if I'm going over the rules on this. All criticism if constructive is very much appreciated

From memory Fireworks will let you save as a GIF or JPEG. Rather choosing "File > Save", you need to export the file. The PNG in fireworks is like a editable project file.

Try click File > Export and you should have a choice of JPEG, GIF, etc
